想请问下CD的学霸们，E被排除的原因是因为because of后面只能加名词，而不能是because of + 独立主格形式，是这样吗？

并不是说beacuse of...+doing的结构就一定错，也有对的情况。
这题中，E选项的because of后面主要是their bodies, buring...只是修饰bodies的定语。所以逻辑意思是“因为他们的...的身体”，强调的是“身体”，而不是“身体发出的动作”。这和原句中的their bodies burn...逻辑是不同的。

LZ，我们可以仔细的分析下E的结构来搞清楚为什么不可以选E，because of后面可跟名词，也可跟动名词，但这里跟了their bodies，而burning 在这里就只是一个分词作定语来修饰their bodies。这样一来，后面的原因状语就还是their bodies了，作为many people become obese more的原因，because of their bodies显然什么也说明不了。所以逻辑句意上它错了。

是的，就现在分词短语的结构来说，在句子里的成分也肯定不是独立主格；独立主格式不会通过连词because of和逐句相连的。

E的错误原因我也理解了，NN们的understanding很consistent. 谢啦~

这种说法本身是有问题的，如果你把它叫独立主格，你当然就不能用of来取消它的独立性。

Answer choice E is incorrect, as the construction "of their bodies burning calories too slowly" is unnecessarily complex, wordy, and awkward.

本题CD的xdjm们说C项问题是becasue of sb's doing错，然而总结GWD的一道题GWD3-Q22，RON大神解释说该形式是对的，并给出example.

这句话想表达的意思是tony的walking使得我们笑，walkinginto the …是原因的一部分，作为动词的作用，因此错。

个人认为GWD30-Q41 有一点细节问题：solely almost错误，应该是almost solely。不知道because of sb's doing是否错。

【问题二】because of +N + doing ，doing修饰N就是正确的，但如何判断是否修饰N？
