The average amout of overtime per month worked by an employee in the manufacturing division of the H Corporation is 14 hours. Most employees of the HC work in the manufacturing division. Furthermore , the average amount of overtime per month worked by any employee in the company generally does not fluctuate much from month to month. Therefore, each month, most employees of the HC almost certainly work at least some overtime.

The debater's argument is most vulnerable to criticism on which of these grounds?
真长。。只打正确答案和我选的了

D it overlooks the possibility that even if, on average, a certain amount of overtime is worked by the members of some group, many members of that group may work no overtime at all.

E it overlooks the possibility that even if most employees of the corporation work some overtime each month, any one corporate employee may, in some months, work no overtime。

答案是d,我选的e,实在看不出之间有多大区别。

我试着简单化一下帮助你明白，这道题有三个premise：1）公司的制造部门的平均情况是加班的；2）公司的大部分人都是制造部门的；3）公司的平均加班情况（by any employee）每个月间都波动不大；由此，得出结论说公司的大部分人都加班。从中可以看出，argument存在的逻辑缺陷是将样本（制造部门的平均加班情况）片面推导到了整体（全公司的平均加班），即有可能在加班上存在“二八法则”--制造部门的极少数人贡献了部门的极大部分加班从而导致人均工时处于加班状态。D选项就很好的抓住了这个点，即人群和人群间加班工时的不同。所以是正确的；而E不对，是因为它抓错了点，它没有去抓人群和人群之间，反而去抓时间和时间之间，而题目中的第三个premise已经说了月度之间加班工时差异不大了，所以是无关选项。

关注原文的结论：Therefore, each month, most employees of the HC almost certainly work at least some overtime. 意思是大部分的员工几乎每个月都加点儿班
而E选项说原文的论证忽视了个别员工有可能不加班。看上去貌似合理，但实际上是错误的，因为E仍是从most employees的角度出发，关注了个体不加班，而恰恰原文的结论是允许个体不加班的情况存在的——原文说的是most employees。
D选项正确是因为关注的是群体，注意C选项中的措辞： many members of that group 说明有可能是某一部分人加了很多小时的班，其他很多人有可能根本没加班，很好地削弱了原文的结论，所以D为正解。

C It confuse a claim from which the argument's conclusion about the Haglut Corporation would necessarily follow with claim that would follow from the argument's conclusion only with a high degree of probability.
OG给出的解释没有证据表明了?？在论据中的角色

c选项的解释是说，文中没有evidence表明c选项中所说的confusion，所以c选项不对。

OG解释是argument未犯C选项所说的错误。且the claim内容不明。
看C选项：原argument混淆了肯定存在的事实和很有可能存在的事实。简单说，就是搞混了可能事件和必然事件。
那么C为什么错？因为argument也是可能，而非绝对。所以没有犯 C的错误。

难道A不能说明问题么？A选项是： it takes for granted that the manufacturing division is a typical division of the corporation with regard to the average of overtime its employees work each month. 这不就是在指出文中混淆了样本和整体的概念么？为毛不对啊？

我也错选了A 按照
加班的是制造部门很少一部分人超级加班，大部分人没加或者少加，那么就导致这个部分加班时间很长了，又因为制造部门人最多，所以似乎整个公司都加班了。所以关键是小部分人加班太多，导致整个平均数上升。类似高收入拉高了全部群体平均收入，但实际上大部分是低收入的道理。
但明白这个道理实际上还是在说很小一部分人代替了整个群体那么A 也对啊，A类似概括，C类似详细说明原因。

试图总结。如有错误请指出。

P1(Premise): MD中，【人均】【月均】加班14hs。
P2: HC中，大多数人在MD中工作。
P3: HC中，任何一人【每月】加班时间变动不大。

P1+P2可推出Pa: HC中，大多数人【人均】【月均】加班。
P3可推出Pb: 【月均】稳定，【人均】可波动。

C(Conclusion): 【每月】，HC中大多数人一定都加班。

C错误：1）参照Pa，发现C使得【月均】=【每月】
2）参照Pb，发现C忽视【人均】可波动

错误选项含义与错误:
A. 含义: MD的人均月均加班时间=HC的人均月均加班时间。
错误: P2中用的词汇是most，HC中的大多数人属于MD，但还有some属于其他部门，所以MD的加班时间和HC的加班时间不一定相等。
B. 含义: 根据HC人均月均加班时间后，可以直接推出MD人均月均加班时间（即相等）。
错误: 由大推小，忽略了两者不一定相等。
C. 含义: 混淆了两个Claim，Claim1: 根据Claim1必然可推出原文C，Claim2: 根据原文C可能可以推出的某种Claim。
错误: 概念实在太宽泛，无法对应到原文任何内容，所以错。
E. 含义: 忽略了这样一种可能，即使HC中大多数人每月加班，HC中任何一人仍可能在某些月根本不加班。
错误: 没有忽略，C中用了most，所以这种可能存在。
