(A) by failing to honor its promise to its customers to keep
(B) by its failure of honoring its promise to its customers to keep

(A) 正确，by doing to do 表示 engage in deceptive business practice 的方式；promise 的习惯用法
是 promise to do sth 或者 promise that…，而不是 promise of doing 或 in doing sth。
(B) 名词 failure 不如动词 failing 简洁。

A是对的

为啥我感觉B应该好一些 failure强调结果啊。。。难道是failing的动作要强调吗？（failureｏｆ　确实有这个用法　不一定加ｔｏ　）

我的理解是它的的意思是不一样的；
by its failure of honoring ,by是由于的意思，但这里需要的是通过的意思所以不能选by its failure of honoring .

by我木有查到因为的意思呀。

话说在我脑海里面 gmat 中by就是被动的那个By

这里答案是A 但是感觉还是好别扭逻辑上

为什么没有？你肯定就没有查词典！！！以下解释来自牛津词典

以下这句话来自海词词典，你感受一下。显然不是通过的意思

由于伊拉克没有抓住说明自己和解除武器的最后一次机会
如果觉得上边的句子是falilure to do,看下边的句子；
Reports have it that Syria has been disenchanted by its failure of delivering the goods in time.

你如果细心可以发现，由于(because)，和通过（throuth)是在一个词条里解释的。但是其实有细微的不同。
这道题利用分词和名词把它们的区别展现了出来

记得以前语文老师说不管两个词语意思多么接近总还是有细微的差别，我想英文的表达应该也是这样，只不过在这道题里差别已经完全改变了意思了

楼主很仔细，我也学到了很多。因为我发现在gmat一个错误选项一般都有很多错误，有的错误明显有的不明显。
我前两天刚看了一个including ,和which include区别，官方的回答说这两个其实有区别，只是gmat一般不会考这样精细的区别。
这个题也是这样，

有区别就好不管那么多考就看不考就不看这样虽然不是很素质教育但是考试很节约经历
另外你说的这2个区别今天我昨天也遇到了结合语境即可哈哈
