spawn & extending是修饰an interwoven filigreen of mushrooms and rootlike tentacles的，spawn和它是被动关系，extend和它是主动关系，都是分词，所以平衡。
另外an interwoven...tentacle就是a giant fungus，说的是同一个东西。a giant fungus在这做同位语，修饰前面整句话。

我也觉得是分词和修饰主语的被动、主动关系。不过OG12的解释是说spawn是发生与10000年前因此是过去分词，而fugus现在仍然extend所以是现在分词。对这个解释不大理解，难道如果extend也发生在过去就用过去分词了吗？求指教
