我赶脚that是doing的宾语，which限定性定语从句修饰that，that指代的就是which is permitted by the law，这貌似是某人的名言警句吧。。

如果是这样，比较类似于bejamin1111的看法，that是宾语。

所以后面which的结构也是合理的吧。

感谢大家的回答，我觉得that是doing的宾语，指代liberty很有道理。但是which不是修饰that的。是power的。看笔记这句话是以前从语法书上看到的，它分析的是定语从句，所以没有提that

我是这样理解的，自由在于有权做法律允许的事。我直接把that which 用 what 代替了。Liberty consists in the power of doing what is permitted by the law。这样可以么？

不可以，that which你把which当成了一个定语从句，那我要问为什么不直接去掉that，使which变成一个宾语从句呢？

doing which is ……的结构是错误的吧…… 。 which即做doing的宾语，又做 is 的主语，这种情况就要用what了。 what= 先行词+that/which 。高中语法……不知道适用否。
还有，为什么你们觉得that是指liberty呢？

但是你的解释我不知道对不对，that为什么指liberthy是大家讨论的结果啊，我只是很同意这个结果罢了。
至于为什么我同意是因为这个句子语法书上指明，which是用来修饰power的。

自由就是做法律许可做的事情的权力，我其实对这句话还是很困惑呢

我又查了查，which可以引导宾语从句；Please tell me which you like，我觉得这样which还是不可能作that的定语从句，

哦，我也查了下。which引导宾从表示“哪一个”，是有实际含义的。和doing which is permitted … 这逻辑意思已经变了。我不知道上下文有没有给出这样的选择，有没有一个not permitted 的和它对应
