D虽然看上去结构很平衡，但是是错的。有3个错误：
1）failing有名词形式failure。未划线部分的failure rate就比较好。

D的主干：the rate....is more than half. ...率是一半以上。感觉搭配不合理
3）而且系表结构不如动词谓语来得直接。

但想问一下: E中,while表示对比的时候,对比双方可以不对称吗?

failing做名词是过失的意思，而failure是失败的意思。
所以failing这里肯定不是做现在分词了，而是做gerund 是错的，应该是意思被扭曲了。变成翻过错误的，而不是破产的^_^

although,even though,even if,while,whereas,where,however much/many/long/great......为转折与让步状语从句；
状语从句中，主句的主语和状语从句的主语可以是同类事物，也可以不是同类事物。
the ratio ....后接more than half 错。。。比率一般而言是个具体的值，开始也因为考虑到比较对象对等，选的d。
仔细推敲发现e最好，把意思表达得最清楚。D晦涩且不符合文法
我仔细分析了D选项，无法发现哪里有什么改变原意
但是D选项的确有诸多别扭的地方
我觉得这道题的关键是，如果用like/unlike或者as的用法，要求主语对称
而while本来就引导让步状语从句，while从句的主语和主句的主语不一致是很正常的，不必遵循平行原则
所以在D和E之间，E明显更加concise，更加直接，清楚明白，所以此题选E。
