89. Salt deposits and moisture threaten to destroy the Mohenjo-Daro excavation in Pakistan, the site of an ancient civilization that flourished at the same time
as the civilizations in the Nile delta and the river valleys of the Tigris and Euphrates.

(A) that flourished at the same time as the civilizations - • - `

(D) flourishing at the same time as those did

有人可以帮我分析一下这句话的句型结构么，再讲解一下这道题，希望可以细致些。

主语：salt deposit and moisture, 谓语：threaten(一般现在时)，the site 作为同位语修饰the Mohenjo-Daro.
要注意的是：those不能指代前面出现的单数名词civilization,所以只能用civilizations。另外，B选项的时态错误，过去完成时表达“过去的过去”，这里的谓语时态是现在时，不是一般过去时。

首先划线部分是修饰acient civilization, 所以不能用ing. 砍掉D & E
其次看句意，是要对比不同的文明，所以要用 as , 看到这里就偏向于A. 还是要看下B, 用了had, 时态不对, 划掉, 再看C, 'those'不能指代前面单数的civilization, 划掉。

最后点A继续

这里的as  能换成as did 吗  有时候as 作为连词和副词分不清楚

as  [?z;?z]
adv.  跟...一样地, 同样地; 例如; 如同
conj.  像...一样; 像; 依照; 当...时

这是林格斯上面的  肿么区分呢到底加不加helping verb在后面呢？

这道题中，加不加did都不会产生歧义，因为比较的是“主谓”结构。如果有宾语的情况下，就要考虑是否会出现歧义了。
08语法笔记：
as或than引导比较从句中的省略原则----from 白勇语法
1) 比较从句谓语与主句谓语相同，可用do，did，does代替。
2) 比较从句连系动词be与主句连系动词be相同，可以省略be，也可以不省略。
3) 主语谓语动词短语使用“助动词（如have，has，had，will）或情态动词（can，could，may，should）+verb”形式时，比较从句往往省略verb，保留助动词或情态动词。
4) 比较从句的主语和谓语与主句的主语和谓语相同时，可以全部省去，常常保留做状语的介词短语或状语从句。
5) 比较从句的主语与主句主语相同，可以省略。

看句意，修饰的是个曾经繁荣过的远古文明所以要用过去时

the site of an ancient civilization that....这里的that难道不是修饰the site么？the site 才是主语吧？那这样理解的话和后面的civilizations会不会有miscomparison的问题呢？楼主一上来就把A和B给排掉了，囧

(B)          that had flourished at the same time as had the civilizations

(D)          flourishing at the same time as those did
(E)          flourishing at the same time as those were

step1:短題句可以把5個選項先掃一遍
step2:發現差異點為that/helping Verb., 還有最重要的比較結構the same time as
step3:找比較結構中的可比性,看those是否有複數的名詞可以指代,很不幸地發現前面只有the site of an ancient civilization是單數,無法代替,刪掉(C)(D)(E)
step4:比較結構中不可以前後都是過去的過去,時態上錯誤,刪掉(B),得(A)
如果不喜歡step4,可以比較(A)(B)發現一個有補出helping Verb一個沒有,則看一下是否需要補出,往前看發現在the same time as前面只有一個N(Subject),再不會造成歧異的情況下,不需要刻意的補出helping Verb.,刪掉(B),得(A)

如果是flourishing 那么这个就是civilization的修饰语，后面的did就没有可以替代的动词了
