Laos has a land area about the same as Great Britain but only four million in population , where many are members of hill tribes ensconced in the virtually inaccessible mountain valleys of the north.
其中有一个错误选项很不明白是怎么错的，还请大家帮忙解答一下：that is about the same size as Great Britain's land area, but in Laos with a population of only four million peopel, many of them . og 的解释上说 them 不对但是不明白这个选项到底都是哪里有错误呀？？？烦请牛牛们给解答一下~~~谢谢啦~~！！！

First of all, we have some concision issues at the outset:
"that is about the same size..." unnecessarily inserts a new tensed version of "to be."

We then have a repetitiveness issue. C repeats the words "land area." While this is certainly clear, it is repetitive. E replaces the second "land area" with the word "that," our "new copy" pronoun.

Finally, C repeats "Laos" again. This is unnecessary.

这个错误选项中，比较的是land area 而这里加上了一个size就显得累赘了，
本题目需补充一个对people的同位语
在做同位语前提下
many of whom 和many of them 是可以相互替代的，但是不同德是，many of them后面不能加谓语动词，而many of whom 后面一定要加谓语动词

这道题也一样，正如楼上说的many of them 可以但是后边不能再接句子

OG说them不对是因为them不能明确的指代核心词population 还是peopel。

LS两位的解释错误，many of whom 和many of them是两个不同的概念，前一个引导从句，而后一个多用于并列结构，两个后面都可以用谓语动词，但所表达的意思和作用完全不一样。

多说无益，举个例子：There are many people and many of them are students. 那有一些人，这些人中有一些是学生。这个句子中 many of them are students.是个并列结构完全可以独自成为一个句子。而另一句：There are 100 Chinese students on the campus, many of whom are in School of Business. 这一句中many of whom are in School of Business是定语从句，不是个独立句子，只起到修饰100 Chinese students 的作用。

再看LS给的例子：He wrote a lot of novels, many of _________ were translated into foreign languages. 之所以这里不能用them，不是因为many of them后面不能加动词，而是因为这里用了them后many of them were translated into foreign languages在形式上就成了单独的句子，但前面却没有连词与前一句作连接，所以错了，所以，这里用which使它成为宾语从句作修饰成分。

所以，再强调一下，many of whom 和many of them 后面都可以跟谓语动词，只是作用完全不同。LZ题目里OG说不能用them是因为指代不明。

楼上说的太没有道理。我们当然知道many of them 可以接谓句，但是不是在这种情况下；

我们还是以我举的高中试题为例，让我把他变化一下。
He wrote a lot of novels, many of _________ were translated into foreign languages.
这道题显然应该用many of whhich.为什么呢？因为它是一个主从复合句，那能不能用many of them呢？当然能只要我在many 前边加上一个and,He wrote a lot of novels,and many of _________ were translated into foreign languages.
只是一个单词之差但这个句子已经变成了一个并列句，并列句能不能接them和复合句有什么关系？

。我们说它不能跟谓语是因为这道简单的题还有一种变化是独立结构极容易和复合句弄混，楼上跟本听不明白我们说话的重点和针对断章取意的跳出来靠诉我们还有并列句这跟我们说的有关系吗？

当然最终目的是楼上弄明白这道题就行了，我们谁对谁错到不要紧
