不是牛~小白一只！C选项resulting from...首先result from是动词短语，在这里面comma+ing是没有什么道理的。
comma+ving形式的用法
1) it should apply most nearly to the subject of the preceding clause2) it should have one of the following RELATIONSHIPS to that clause:
必须有以下其中一个：
* immediate consequence
* simultaneous, but lower-priority, action
如果说是immediate result那就更说不通了，应为是由于result from后面的句子是原因，前面的句子是结果
如果说是同时的lower-priority action那也不对啊~主句的谓语动词是has increased，是个现在完成时态！怎么看都不能表伴随啊！

嗯，多谢大神好厉害。但是我还是想问，C removal and clearing不平行，当时没多想直接排除。。为什么可以呢？？

其实A项的the clearing和removal可以平行~我觉得这个平行其实不太好诶！the clearing是gerund做名词；removal自然就是名词了~词性上是平行的。你要看看词性啊，不能看到ing和名词不一样就排除啊

这里的平行成分是the removal of 和 the clearing of
注意：the clearing 是一个名词，如果去掉the，那么就是动词。并且，remove有自己的名词形式removal，所以就不用the removing。比如，discovery优于discovering.
此外，resulting from 和 as a result of。manhattan上说，resulting from是作为形容词修饰名词，不用逗号。http://www.manhattangmat.com/forums/post3894.html#p3894
显然这里的resulting from修饰的不是名词，而是一个句子。

我理解，有两个原因：
1、resulting from 此处，表示与主句谓语同时发生的动作，逻辑主语为The cottontail rabbit population，讲不通。
2、就是remove本身有名词removal了。
