标题: 关于过去分词的语法问题
最近看了语法全总结：上面关于过去分词的修饰时这样说的。
当现在/过去分词在句中且前后都有逗号,有歧义:1)修饰前面紧邻的名词,2)向后修饰后面句子的主语.
这种结构在GMAT肯定错,如果修饰某句主语,则避免将该分词置于以名词结尾的句后.避免方式:1)用定语从句/介词短语明确修饰对象.2)可将分词提到句首,所修饰主语及所在句子紧跟其后-->形成句首分词修饰句子主语.

之后，看新东方的讲义。有这么道题：
An attempt to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment, begun almost twodecades ago, has been unsuccessfuldespite efforts by many important groups, including the National Organization forWomen.

(A)to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment, begun almost two decades ago,

(B) begun almost two decades ago, for ratifying the Equal RightsAmendment

(D) at ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment, begun almost two decadesago,

(E) that has begun almost two decades ago to ratify the Equal RightsAmendment

答案选的A。BCDE的排除我懂了，但是A项是不是和上面的语法点冲突啊。
请问begun almost two decades ago这个分词短语是就近修饰amendment 还是修饰后面句子的主语 attempt？歧义啊
还是我理解错了？

Overall, this is not a well-constructed question so I wouldn't recommend studying it. It isn't wrong to say the attempt is still continuing - because people are still attempting to ratify it. It is still continuing. The modifier issue is not really handled in a GMAT-like way in any of the five choices (which is why I say - don't study this one).

首先谢谢你的解答。
其次，说实话，水平不够，这个官方解释没看明白。
是说过去分词修饰名词必定是直接修饰前面名词么？还是说修饰问题不会考？
还有，这个题和attempt 是否持续有什么联系？没看出这个考点……

官方的意思是说按照GMat的标准过去分词不能那样用，但是生活中你这么说大家也能懂，归根到底这是一种不规范的用法，所以说他这题出的不严格。
attempt是有人问题时态的问题，不用去管它
