标题: OG13-65 代词的问题【已解决】
Digging in sediments in northern China, evidence has been gathered by scientists suggesting that complex life-forms emerged much earlier than they had previously thought
(A) evidence has been gathered by scientists suggesting that complex life-forms emerged much earlier than they had
(C) scientists have gathered evidence suggesting that complex life-forms emerged much earlier than
OA: C

LZ代词比较弱，想问一下A中they的指代是否有问题（OG没提到，自己也不确定...）

they是否在语法上具有同时指代life-forms和scientists的可能，因而会产生歧义？（虽然在逻辑上肯定是指SCIENTISTS）

我觉得这里they的指代ok.因为they在than后面的成分中做subject，而与之对应的最近的复数主语就是complex life-forms，不大可能跳过这个主语而去指代介词短语中的 scientists

恩恩，由于平行的关系使得代词的指代变得清晰，manhattan有讲到，看来是没有活学活用啊，非常感谢哦~~~

但是complex life form不可能自己发出previously thought的动作而且用的是过去完成时had thought所以也不可能是ved形容词，那么指代对象只能是scientist
