why want to add "they are"? it is mean that " Japan elderly people" again?

why not B???

Ｂ than 前后不平行，不具可比性。

than 前的主语是elderly people ,注意不是“japan elderly people", 根据可比性，than 后补充they 指代elderly people 。

We can not use "it" after than.
