标题: OG 13 新题新问~没找到之前帖子的回答
In 1979 lack of rain reduced india's rice production to about 41 million tons, nearly 25 percent less than the 1978 harvest.
现在可以明白是rice production和 1978 harvest 作比较，而不是单纯的单位数量的比较。可是 nearly 25 percent less than the 1978 harvest在句子中作什么成分呢？修饰谁呢？如果说修饰 rice production中间还隔了一个 41 million tons。同位语的话也不对啊，所以我就很无力。。。

求各位帮忙解答~~感激不尽

作同位语吧，然后rice production是已经知道的。故在这部分省去

同位语不是应该只能修饰逗号前的紧邻名词么？？

同意Rylstar，是同位语。同位语不一定要放在被他们修饰的词的后面，也可以放在前面。具体可参考这里

这个问题我也有点纠结啊太久没有看SC了- -

不过我同意这个意见

"Appositives can be placed before or after the word or phrase they modify, and they can modify an entire phrase rather than just a single word."对啊，说同位语可以修饰紧邻名词或者前面的一整个短语，拿那这里的一整个短语也够不到 rice production啊

duke大神出现啦！

今天遇到了个问题：关于如何判断absolute phrase 和 appositive；做了一点小研究；就是更具意思判断；如果这个短语是和所修饰的词是the same thing，那么就是appositive；反之则是absolute phrase；

举例：
1. Guillermo, 【his arm in pain】, strode out of the building. 括号内是独立短语
2. The coach,【 an old classmate of mine】, was not pleased. 括号内是同位语；
原因：
an old classmates and coach 是 same thing，所以这个词组是同位语
his arm in pain和G不是同一种事物，所以是独立短语

再引用pansimply 的回复：rice production=about 41 million tons=nearly 25 percent less than the 1978 harvest，所以这个comma后的成分应该是appositive

感觉是对的

因为我之前也纠结过这个，你的意见和国外ron给的解释差不多- -我这里印象还是蛮深刻的

到了最后我自己的建议还是别纠结吧，都归类为modifier吧

这也就是为什么中文学GMAT语法比英文学要蛋疼

国外就不怎么区分同位语和那个独立主格是吧？

他们直接就看成modifier，没有句法上的错误就去看看其他的split

毕竟考的不是名词解释。。是句意的正确，有效以及连贯性~
