标题: prep07上的一道提，求助各位NN
69. Sixty-five million years ago, according to some scientists, an asteroid bigger than Mount Everest
slammed into North America, which, causing plant and animal extinctions, marks the end of the
geologic era known as the Cretaceous Period.
(D) an event that caused plant and animal extinctions, and it marks
(E) an event that caused the plant and animal extinctions that mark
我在D E之间纠结，这是解答：
D. and it marks….完整独立句子，构成run-on错误；it指代不清，可以指代an asteroid，也可以指代，an event，且 it 优先指代同在句子中充当主语成分的 an asteroid，不符合逻辑。
E. 正确。
我的疑问，请问D中不是有and了吗？为什么会有run on的错误呢？
还有it的指代问题，难道不是指代离他更近的an event呢？为什么会指代不清啊，指代问题我总是错。。。
E中我的疑问是that mark，这里的that我怎么觉得不清楚呢？可以是animal extinctions,也可以是the plant and animal extinctions？
求讲解，谢谢各位啦！

简化后，D的主干为：an asteroid ...slammed into NA and it marks the end...
一个句子里面，两个独立句子。it指代了前面的an asteroid；如果不管逻辑意思，只从语法角度的话，把it去掉，然后时态改成一致。

2）【the plant and animal】 extinctions that，这样应该会清晰一些，把the plant and animal当作是extinctions的adj.

谢谢呐！！好清楚的条理，还有再还有麻烦问下指代问题中，一般情况下it指代前面的核心内容，还是离它近的单数名词呢？

这个的话，还没有深究过，

1）如果真要找的话，我觉得可以先简化句子结构，找出主谓宾，这样代词的指代就清晰了
2）不建议你找硬性指标，根据句子的内容而定。
