标题: OG 13 SC 85 (OG 12 SC 82) 求教关于like的用法
According to a recent poll, owning and living in a freestanding house on its own land is still a goal of a majority of young adults, like that of earlier generations.

(A) like that of earlier generations
(B) as that for earlier generations
(C) just as earlier generations did
(D) as have earlier generations
(E) as it was of earlier generations
答案是E

我的困惑在A选项
看了所有之前讨论的帖子，有解释说：A选项 "comma + like"是在修饰前面从句的主语，因此句子变成"owning and living ... is like a goal of earlier generations, 这样缺乏了a goal of young adults和a goal of earlier generations之间比较的意思，这么理解对吗？

在DUKB24大侠总结的excel里面有如下内容:

In A, that seems to refer to a goal.
The entire phrase (like that of earlier generations) serves to modify the SUBJECT of the preceding clause (owning and living in a freestanding house).
The implication is that OWNING AND LIVING IN A FREESTANDING HOUSE is LIKE A GOAL of earlier generations.
Which GOAL of earlier generations?
Since A does not convey a clear meaning, eliminate A.

回到我的问题，我没理解 " which goal of earlier generations？" 这句话，请帮助我理解一下。

like后面只能跟词，不能跟句子。as后面只能跟句子不能跟词

看了RON大神的解释，歧义最大的是that指代
that可以指代a goal 也可以指代a majority(个人认为房子地那些指代太特么不靠谱了)
然后就变成了
1.a goal of a majority of young adults, like a goal of earlier generations
2.a goal of a majority of young adults, like a majority of earlier generations

这个题很有意思，记得之前看过一个段子，说我有个梦想，和我爹一样，月入十万。其实是个歧义句，是我爹现在年入十万还是我爹也有个梦想年入十万？这就对应了这题的that，前面有若干指示对象。

这一题不是强调owning and living in a freestanding house on its own land 对年轻人和对老一辈都是同一个东西吗？美国梦没变过，和generation无关。所以that作为new copy来说是错的，需要it。like放在句尾歧义很多啊，怎么也不是优选答案。

这两个好像还有点不一样。不过原句也是有歧义。
