不明白这里的E中but是做连词吗？laos has a land ...but (has) a population...?但是这里也可以解释为 除了（介词）的意思啊，不会有歧义么？？。。。还有平行省略的时候动词也可以省略吗？我怎么只接触到助动词什么的省略额

这个but其实就是这么理解，lz知道N has A and B吧，那N has A but B，不是一个意思么，就是and给出AB之间并列平行的含义，but给出了一个对比转折的含义，laos has a land area （comparable to that of Great Britain） but a population （of only 4 million people）——括号内部都是修饰成分，那你就拨开修饰见主干不就得了，亲作者: flonacui 时间: 2013-3-17 23:18

绝对没有 but肯定不是做介词 语意根本讲不通 你不能因为介词加名词就强加勉强but的这个意思 你也可以去查字典 but作为介词时候的意思是 but is used to mean except 你替换成except看看讲得通么？
