A desire to throw over reality a light that never was might give away abruptly to the desire on the part of what we might consider a novelist-scientist to record exactly and concretely the structure and texture of a flower.

这是consider sb to do sth的用法吧。

consider

Ø       consider v.

Ø       作"认为""以为""觉得"(=be of the opinion, regard as)解时,后面多接宾语从句,这时一般不接动名词作宾语。

(Do you consider it wise to interfere?)

Ø       固定结构"consider... as/ to be+名词/形容词"多侧重于表示经过思考"认为…… 例如:

OG65Critics of the trend toward privately operated prisons consider corrections facilities an integral part of the criminal justice system and question whether profits should be made from incarceration.

OG的解释:When consider means "regard as," as it does in this sentence, its object should be followed immediately by the phrase that identifies or describes that object.

根据OG的说法,当consider=regard as时,只可以用consider sth. sth. 而不是 consider sth. to be sth.

和consider sth. adj.

consider sth. sth.和consider sth. adj.

A desire to throw over reality a light that n ...

这不是consider sb to do 的用法,而是desire to do的结构

A desire to throw over reality that never was a light might give away abruptly to the desire on the part of what we might consider a novelist-scientist to record exactly and concretely the structure and texture of a flower.
consider (what)a novelist-scientist 就是你说的consider n. n.的结构
