c)what private fencing masters and dancing teachers were 问题：选C，但总觉得这种形式有问题，what前应该加 like才对吧。

第一题是语法结构是A be to B what C be to D。该题在以前的贴子里出现过。
第二题主要是从意思上去理解。动作性名词表结果，而动名词表动作。你说是这个动作be key to the development of the spice trade in the ancient time呢还是驯养骆驼这个结果be key to the development 呢？作者: joywzy 时间: 2003-7-10 12:55
补充一点: 第二题,C中,dated修饰什么?从逻辑意思上是修饰Domesticating the camel ,从语法中只能修饰teh camel.所以错.

Commonly,the parenthesis set off by commas in describes the subject or the key word of a sentence.In B, the subject "Domesticating the camel " cannot be logically modified by "dated by scholars" ,thus it generates difficulty in the meaning of the sentence.
