og13比12新增的题目讨论不是太多，找不到想要的解答，我在这里集中问一下~ 望大神解答~

65：（正确句子）

这个是正确句子，但是我想问，这里对比的什么？再具体点说，previously thought到底指什么？
1）thought做名词（但是在这里肯定不是名词，不然对比的两个对象错误；而且previously的ly也不符合修饰名词的要求。）

2）previously thought指的是scientists previously thought,简单来说就是------>life-forms emergedearlier thanscientists thought，也就是说这里省略了scientists（个人感觉可能性不大，如果真的是这样，不会把scientists省略掉）

3）previously thought指的是life-forms were previously thought to emerge，------>life-forms emergedearlier than ( life-forms were) thought( to emerge),也就是说省略了 life-forms were&to emerge，我可以理解to emerge可以省略，但是不理解were为什么能省略？前面并没有出现过were，所以后面的were并不是repeat，怎么能省略呢？为什么这里不补全为life-forms emerged earlier than that were previously thought呢？

每次看到with就头痛，究竟修饰谁不说，修饰的意思也往往让我看不懂

这里第一个with，修饰subject，这里也是先行词（starfish），但是with后面是什么意思呢？这个anywhere是什么东西？我的理解是“无论从哪里来的，有五到八个胳膊的，海星”
第二个with，修饰if...than...clause，也就是with前面的clause。这个animal想想应该也只能指starfish，但读起来就是很奇怪！是不是因为前面句子中有it，且指代arm，所以with后面不能再用代词，以免歧义？
如果不考虑"if"前面这个“and”，句子是不是可以表述为：if one arm is lost it is quickly replaced ,andthe starfish sometimes overcompensate and grow an extra one or two.

整个句子的意思就是：无论从哪里来的，有5到8个脚的海星，有强大的再生能力；如果一个胳膊没了，马上就会被替代掉，（在这个过程中，）这种动物有的时候会过分生长，多长一两个脚。

这里with 修饰的是insect eye?，its和it的antecedent都是insect eye.
with在这里的结构是：comma+with+phrase
也就是说，无论with前面有没有comma，with都是可以修饰先行词的，也可以修饰主句or主语；
所以我的结论是：不要用with究竟修饰谁来删除选项。
可以先不考虑with的修饰对象，
先看with后面的内容，如果with后面的内容完全没有问题，再跟其他没有问题的选项对比，哪个修饰的更好，哪个更符合题目意思和逻辑。

大家来讨论讨论吧~~！虽然这几个句子讨论的东西，有的不在划线考察范围，有人会说GMAT提供的正确句子也不是完美的，但是还是很想深究一下~

你可以这么理解 existed 后面省掉的是“in a time” 所以 previously thought 前面省掉的是“the time”

你可以这么理解 existed 后面省掉的是“in a time” 所以 previously thought 前面省掉的是“the time”

我也觉得是nominative absolute
with+宾语+宾补与主句形成紧密的逻辑联系，但OG的解释为啥米有提到独主呢
