OG 的解释是The use of the word also is misleading here.
If the first embedded clause is negated, the
affirmed second clause cannot also be true.其实我是不知道OG说的红色字体的是什么意思。我自己理解的是如果用了also相当于这个句子和“not as a sing...."是并列的，但是这里想表达的是转折关系

not only..but also,这个是递进关系。
而原文要表达的是not.. but...如你所说是转折关系，所以不能加also。你不能说“病毒不能破坏免疫系统，但病毒也能摧毁神经系统”——这样的排句在逻辑上是有问题的。
我觉得OG说的其实就是一开始如果用否定的语气not，后面不能用“but also”这样的递进语气，因为它带有affirmed的性质，和前面的否定语气有冲突。

可是prep08中不是说but also是表转折的么？
