正确答案是选E，对此没有疑问。但是，对08prep语法笔记对such that 的总结有疑问。

Since 1975 so many people have been moving to Utah such that Mormons who were once 75 percent of the population are now only accounting for half of it.
A.   so many people have been moving to Utah such that Mormons who were once 75 percent of the population are now only accounting for half of it
B.   many people have been moving to Utah, so Mormons once 75 percent of the population are now accounting for only half

笔记中对such that 连用的总结如下：
2. such that连用时的用法：
(1) A rule of correspondence between two sets such that there is a unique element in the second set assigned to each element in the first set. (such向前指代a rule of … sets )
函数两组元素一一对应的规则，第一组中的每个元素在第二组中只有唯一的对应量
(2) Her interest with him is such that she governs him absolutely. (such指代her interest)
她对他的影响非常大，以至于完全控制了他。
(3) The format of the meeting was such that everyone could ask a question. (such指代the format of the meeting) 会议安排好可让每个人都能提一个问题。
(4) choose x and y such that x + y = 10 (such向前指代x and y)

我的疑惑是：
1. such的词性是什么，是代词吗？如果不是为什么可以向前指代？ such... that...中，such的词性又是什么，是副词吗？
2.such that是什么意思，似乎在例子中没有实际的含义。

好吧，我自己貌似想出来了。

such that 连用表示“结果为”，无需直译。

such that 从句不用考虑逻辑主语

For example,
"He arranged the cards such that they would not fall." This sentence emphasizes the way in which the cards were arranged.【such that強調主句執行動作的方式】

THX!! 可不可以理解为，such 先行词，that 引导修饰such的定语从句

（1）such that可簡單理解成conj，跟so that/so等相似
（2）such + noun + that，理解成定從不對-->定從裡的先行詞應該是從句中的subject or object，但是such + noun不是that-clause的成份
其實也可以跟（1）理解相似，只不過這裡such that中間加了名詞成份.. 或者可以類比so + adj + that的用法..

灰常感谢！看完清楚多了。。。

还有一个疑惑，我还是不太理解楼主贴上来的语法笔记中，第一个例句
A rule of correspondence between two sets such that there is a unique element in the second set assigned to each element in the first set.
这个句子中的主谓宾分别是什么？that后面引导了一个名词性从句，A rule of correspondence between two sets是主语，那么谓语到哪里去了呢？如果such that照连词的功能来理解的话，这个句子好像说不通。

Ron在Manhattan说基本上such that的用法都可以踢掉的，除了choose x and y such that x + y = 10这种数学、物理上的用法

原话："such that" doesn't make sense.
in fact, i don't think you should pick a sentence with "such that" in one piece. if anyone can prove me wrong on this, please do.
the ONLY non-awkward, correct sentences i've seen with "such that" are sentences about math or physics (e.g., "choose x and y such that x + y = 10").
