对于both的错误谁能解释下~~~谢谢
我觉得both rootedin the stride-piano tradition of Willie (The Lion) Smith and （rooted in）Duke Ellington 也是可以的呀（and后面经常省略）难道是我意思理解错了还是神马的？

假如说 both rooted in tradition of W Smith and rooted in Duke E 的话, 由于rooted in 出现在both 之后, 所以 and 后要重复 rooted in.
省略的情况是rooted in 出现在 both 前面, 即 rooted in both W Smith and Duke E.
但是不管省略问题, A是有逻辑错误的, 因为只有一个tradition.
rooted in Duke Ellington 是个什么情况... 根植在一个人身上? 还是 rooted in tradition of Duke E

我也认为， both root in the tradition of WS and DE, 如果是这个结构，应该是 tradition 和 DE平行。WS只是修饰语一部分。 显然两者不平行。 再看别的both 要求结构平行，那更加的不平行了。
所以我认为这里Both就是干扰项。排除。

有人知道为什么这里root用被动吗？怎么理解呢

Work 肯定不能自己root in 啊。这里应该是起源于，以什么什么为基础的意思吧。
