标题: 大家看看这个those的用法对吗？
这道题出自OG VERBAL2：85.According to a study by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, companies in the United States are providing job training and general education for nearly eight million people, about equivalent to the enrollment of the nation’s four-year colleges and universities.
(A) equivalent to the enrollment of
(B) the equivalent of those enrolled in
(C) equal to those who are enrolled in
(D) as many as the enrollment of
(E) as many as are enrolled in
这道题我有三个问题：
1.我感觉BC选项中的those的用法不对，算是裸奔了，正确的用法应该是those people，后面再加修饰语，但是OG的解释都没有提到those用法不对。--我好像把that/those与this/these搞混淆了，看了manhattanSC，是this/these不能裸奔，必须要加名词。
2.这道题我读第一遍时，没有发现是考比较的题，因为about的出现，请问about as many as 这是什么成分啊？
3.比较的又是什么啊？nearly eight million people做的成分是宾语吧，但是are enrolled in感觉又是在比较主语，不懂了？请大家指教！

个人见解：
1 those我觉得没啥错，就是指people，不需要those people，those people这里的those不是做代词的性质，而是更像做形容词修饰people
2 about as many as 是用来作比较的，修饰前面的eight million people，比较的是不同机构的number of people
3 比较的是number of people provided with training and education 和number of people enrolled in colleges

个人见解：
1 those我觉得没啥错，就是指people，不需要those people，those people这里的those不是做代词的性质，而是更像做形容词修饰people
2 about as many as 是用来作比较的，修饰前面的eight million people，比较的是不同机构的number of people
3 比较的是number of people provided with training and education 和number of people enrolled in colleges

所以1的话后面等于people 省略咩...equal to those (people) who are enrolled in这样？

应该是省略了people, 。。。about as many (people) as are enrolled.
至于这里的those，说实话，我个人的想法是觉得它应该没有错，但是我也有一点不清楚，就是those到底指代people还是 8million people。
至于你这里说的...equal to those (people) who are enrolled in 我觉得不是those (people)，个人的看法是 those 指代people，要么those要么people。
另外qual to those 也不对，8 million people不能 equal to，只有number可以equal to

应该是省略了people, 。。。about as many (people) as are enrolled.

查了下曼哈顿：
Right: The money spent by her parents is less than that spent by her children.
Right: The money spent by her parents is more that it was expected to be.
第一句that指代的money和主语的money并不是一样的；而用it / they或其他人称代词时，指代的必须是与先行词是THE SAME THING。

所以those应该是指代people吧~

B/C的问题应该还是equal/equivalent两边应该是number的对比...而不是people和people的对比。

2.我对about的用法还是很疑惑，about在灵格斯中作adv.的第一个意思是Approximately; nearly。这里的about是否就是这个意思啊？

3.比较的成分可以算比较的宾语吗？
正确答案as many as are enrolled in,从哪里看得出来are enrolled in是比较的数量啊？
省略又为什么能省略主语呢？
请指点！

关于about我觉得楼主说的对，就是大约的意思，修饰as many as
关于如何看出比较数量，我是从两个点看出来的，一个是前面的8 million people，第二个当然是as many as本身就是用作数量的比较；另外前面也没有任何一个词可以用as many as 来修饰，只有一个人数 8 millioin people是make sense的。我觉得这句话其他的成分没法比较，尤其是如AB中的equivalent一般用于比较value，这里没有value的概念，而C中equal更多用于uncountable quantities，这里拿来比较people也是不对的，所以只剩下比较人数了~
之所以能省略主语，是因为（it is understood）。只要在不产生歧义的情况下，很多成分都是可以省略，这一点你可以看一下曼哈顿的comparsion那一章。

关于如何看出比较数量，我是从两个点看出来的，一个是前面的8 million people，第二个当然是as many as本身就是用作数量的比较；另外前面也没有任何一个词可以用as many as 来修饰，只有一个人数 8 millioin people是make sense的。我觉得这句话其他的成分没法比较，尤其是如AB中的equivalent一般用于比较value，这里没有value的概念，而C中equal更多用于uncountable quantities，这里拿来比较people也是不对的，所以只剩下比较人数了~
