标题: Issue 7 求拍！ [打印本页] 作者: jowett1985 时间: 2013-1-5 10:06 标题: Issue 7 求拍！ Some people believe that government funding of the arts is necessary to ensure that the arts can flourish and be available to all people. Other believe that government funding of the arts threatens the integrity of the arts.
As the fundamental part of people's spiritual live, art forms one of the most important part of our culture. But with the development of modern society, some kinds of art are suffering financial dilemma. Although supporting the arts with government funding is a rational way to ensure the flourish of arts, it is still not practical according the context. In my perspective, government funding should pay more attention to weak and traditional arts which are no longer the main trends of art market.
The statement implies that government funding to arts will supply all kinds of arts with equal opportunities to gain their our development. On one hand, this assumption is not realistic because in the modern society any government's financial state is not good enough to offer so much money to support such a huge arts field in a country. On the other hand, since government has limit time for each specific fields of the society, figuring out a financial supporting plan for the whole art field of a country is very hard for it. Limited resource to each kind of art is so small that can not show people with significant effectiveness. Under this kind of art supporting police, in order to gain more funding, some artists will try to bribe government officials or cater to their interesting during art creation process, which will dramatically demolish the independence and integrity of arts.
In contrast to the statement, providing all kinds of arts with equal government supporting is impossible, and sometimes it even has negative influence on the fair competition environment construction. It is wise for government to institute a plan which focus more on the art fields with low profit level and few fans. As a matter of fact, we can see a more flourish art market with limited government funding. For example, in China, a lot of government funding is paid to rescue many kinds of old ballad of different minorities which are nearly distinctive a few years age. While at the same time, there is no need to give rock music in the big cities any special care. And both of them can gain fair and enough space to develop. Actually, with the help of enough government funding, nowadays, more and more people want to learn and sing these old songs and the art integrity is well prevented.
All in all, government should give more help to the weak arts fields and put limited funding on the urgent places such as dying arts.
