正确选项是C。疑问是在their wines...，and...的句子中，and后面的主语they为什么指代的是italian vintners,而不是their wines呢？这样主语就和前面的their wines保持一致了啊。PS，分号后面的句子表达的到底是什么意思？

这个。。。。。。their wines不能主动reduce inventories。

个人觉得，分号后面的意思是说：他们的酒不得不被标价出售，他们也的确这样做了。

个人认为分号后面的那个句子就是强调句的感觉尤其是最后的逗号后面那句强调说他们确实这样做了（曼哈顿的动词章节讲过相关的~）

所以这里就是强调sell
然后如果代入各个选项还原的话，are----they are sell（是错的！应该是they are selling才行~所以不符合原句排除are） do----they do sell（合理！）

恩，我后来看了下，觉得是C比较好一点，因为其实最后省略的是to sell这个动词，所以前面应该要加一个动词。

个人认为，这个题的重点是考助动词的补出

When the tenses do no need to match, the exact verb form missing after the helping verb should be present elsewhere in the sentence.

Manhattan给过一个例子很类似：Our cars were designed to inspire envy, and they do. "they" refers to "cars"，"do" refers to "inspire"

关于这个题，they的指代，同一句子中相同代词应该指代相同名词。前面有their wines，their与后面的they属于相同代词，都应该指代 Italian vintners

Manhattan上讲过；所有相同代词在一个句子中，只能指代相同名词。例如：it，its；they，their；他们指代的名词必须相同，从而不造成歧义
