6. A nation should require all of its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college. (5, claim)
The claim says that a nation should require all of its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college.I must concede that to some extent,it is necessary for a nation to set some national courses, however,I disagree with the claim for I strongly believe that every child has his own way to learn and they has the choice to decide the way he studys. Moreover,to some minority culture,to have the same national curriculum is not a way to preserve their unique elements, and their disappearance may be a lost to the whole world.
First, children learn things in different ways. Some may be through seeing the fact in their everyday life while others may be better at learning in the text books. So,in a specific area, there exist a possibility that majority of children there learning ideas through engaging in the knowledge or experiments. And the extant teaching system is very suitable for the special situation. But when a national curriculum is settled, the children there may be facing a dilemma. For they are forced to adapt to a new, strange system and mechanism of study. They can be better than their peers, for they have more opportunities to experience the knowledge,to touch what is being taught in the classroom. But now due to the the same national curriculum, they have to abandon their advantages in the education. It is not proper, even not fair to all the child in the nation, for it neglects the diversity of children and their different learning methods.
Moreover, nations differ form each other. If a policy applies well in a specific nation, but it will not be suitable in another, especially these with multiple cultures and races. In a nation where many races co-exist,though there is always a mainstream race and culture, each of the minority's culture needs protection and to be preserved.for every culture,no matter how unknown it is to most people,is the treasure to the humankind.Once lost,it will not be brought back again. So in order to preserve the legacies of each of the culture and prevent them form extinction, the curriculum must be set under their own circumstance,to let the minority to establish their own education to some extent. To let students study the same national will stifle the culture diversity of the world, and surly it will cause a lot of unredeemable loses of humankind.
But,to reject the same curriculum is not meant that same subjects or courses are not required.Whether it is a multicultural or unicultrual nation, every races has common customs, interlaced history. They are a indivisible integrate.the nation's soul, the core of a nation, must be rooted in each member of its people.through some national courses,it helps children,or next generation in the country to generate a sense of proundness in their heart or a sense of unity. To be a qualified person in the country. One individual must learn to behave under the custom and convention of their nation. If national course is not obligated in the nation, the most important thing of the nation, the special thing of the nation can not be passed to the next generation. Thus ,the nation is doomed to break up.
So to sum up.To set a nation curriculum is not beneficial to the nation. For every nation has its own situation, and every child in the nation have various ways to learn, more importantly, they have their rights to decide in which way they learn. But on the hand, some important subject should be required to applied in the nation-wide area.
