C为什么不对啊，它的主语是discovering 还是 figurines啊，越看越看不懂啊~~求大牛解释！

"the discovery... has nearly doubled....." does make sense.

"Discovering" is gerund. how has "discovering" (the action) doubled?

the Manhattan also mention "verb is better than noun, then noun is better than gerund".

LZ自己对C都晕了，说明C肯定有问题
discovering的用法不如discovery好，明明有相应的抽象名词，为何还要用动名词的形式呢？

而且discovering会让人想问：是谁discover的？动作主语不清！

同理，excavating也不好。
