The first trenches …, Syria, have yielded strong evidence that ….. societies (…) arose simultaneously with but independently of the more celebrated city-states …….. LZ怎么想的？that were cut这所以不好是因为不如直接用done做后置定语简洁，因此cut哪里会是谓语呢。。只不过是后置定语修饰主语

省略that were

that were 不是spliter

that were这种wordy的issue不能作为绝对的split，只能作为相对的，即比较下才能得出的结论

原句有更明显的错误

请问为什么arising后面要加with呢
