通过这三道题是不是说明BUT连接的句子平行的规则是如果前面是一个句子，后面绝对不可以接一个短语且必须也是个句子？如果要是表示对比的话，必须加RAther强调，如果不加rather 就说明BUT连接的是一个句子和一个主语，就不平行了？

lz想想but的词性和功能啊，
前两题，用作连词，要求but使其前后的词、短语、分句相互对照。
第三题，适当做not....but.（rather）....平行结构来考虑，要求but后面的内容要和not内容形成平行对比

您说的but的用法我是感觉有些片面，but也可以还可以用作prep，举两个例子：
Nothing but disaster would come from such a plan.
We had no choice but to wait.

在Gmat中遇到过的but就记得几个比较特殊的：
1.not … but 不是……而是……”
2.not only … but also … 不但……而且……
3.but for ＝ without ，意为“要不是；如果没有”，意思上相当于一个虚拟条件句。
记得有：But for your help, we couldn't have carried out the plan.
4. but that = except that ，意为“若非；要不是”，引导虚拟条件状语从句。
比如：He would have helped me but that he was short of money at that time.
5. nothing but = only ，意为“只；不过是”。
常见到：We could see nothing but water.

我还是觉得你得通过不同的句子来不同的分析

假设要的是句子的平行，当然就是clause，but+clause
要是的名词平行，当然是noun，but+noun
其他情况类似
