The reading passage argues that ethanol is not a good replacement for gasoline for several reasons. However, in the opinions of the professor, the three reasons are not convincing.
First of all, according to the reading passage, the increased use of ethanol fuel would add to the global warming, because of the carbon dioxide they release, trapping heat in the atmosphere. The professor refuses the author's idea because the growth period of the plants counteracts the release of carbon dioxide. They absorb it as part of nutrition when they grow, so it will not release that huge global warming as a result.
Second, as the professor claimed, the production of significant amounts of ethanol would not reduce the amounts of food for animals, which contradicts with what the author points out. The professor uses the same example provided by the author. However, the professor thinks that the scientist can get ethanol by using the parts of corn that are not animals feed on. So producing ethanol will not, as the author expected, cut down the available food for animals to eat.
Finally, though now the price of ethanol fuel is higher than its normal level, which needs the governments' subsidies to control its price just as the opinion that the reading tells us, the professor said that these subsidies are necessary in the short run. If the production of ethanol fuel increases by three times, the price of ethanol fuel will be reduced by 40%. Then in the long run, ethanol fuel is cheap enough to compete with gasoline.
To sum up, the professor still support the alternative way to gasoline in the future.

Additionally, a professor who continues to do research is more likely to keep up with recent development and forefront of the field, making him or her more a knowledgeable teacher and more likely to be an enthusiastic teacher, willing to share new discoveries with students. To sum up, researches not only benefit the teachers themselves, but also bring much more advantages to students, university and even the whole world. It should, therefore, be given precedence over teaching, which does not mean that professors could neglect their duties to their student, but focus more on their researches.

To begin with, staying with our friendsduring vocation can enhance our friendship. For example, last summer vocation, a friend of mine from my hometowncame to Beijing, spending the whole vacation with me. Apparently, the man’s idea isincompatible with that in the reading.
Moreover, as well defined as it sounds, the readingargues that customers are easily cheated by buzzers. The man’s statement onceagain contradicts with the passage. Moreover,it brings us more advantages as follows.
To begin with, working at home improves ourenvironment by relieving the congestion of public transportation and cuttingdown the emission of greenhouse gases. When people are allowed to work at home,there is no need for so many people to pour into the streets, subways and buses.As a result, the phenomenon of crowed transportations will be relieved.Besides, the consumption of cars will decrease, which are helpful to reduce thedischarge of greenhouse gases and improve our environment in the end.
Furthermore, transportation costs take up alarge part of people’s living expenses, so working at home means that peoplecould save the transportation costs and then make better use of their income. Ionce did an internship in a company which is one hour way away from our school.Every day, I need to catch a bus first and then transfer to a subway back andforce, paying ten RMB for it. The reading passage casts lights on the bad effects of "let it burn" policy. The professor covers the same topic in the listening material, however, with a totally opposite attitude that forest fire is not destructive but creative for the balance of ecological system. She explained her viewpoints in terms of the fire's effects on vegetation, animals and tourist attractions.
To begin with, the author in the reading states that tremendous damage is caused by the Yellowstone fires. On the contrary, the professor diffuses it for the reason that the Yellowstone fires create an appealing habitat for some small trees to survive. On the one hand, the areas which many big trees and plants live in are now suitable for the small trees which need unshed places to survive. On the other hand, the seeds of some species have grown very high, thanks to the high heat the fire brings to them, which are very helpful for their growth.
Moreover, the reading states that the fire affects large animals to a large extent. Once again, the professor holds the different opinion that many animals not only recover from the big fire, but also have new opportunity to grow. More typically, we lose our friendship due to some realistic reasons, such as one of us moving to another city. To make my demonstration more comprehensively, I would like to refer to the story of my father, who is a businessman. Once a time, he took me to participate in a party with him. All our family members decided to hide the truth, only telling him that he could recover soon. Just as I expected, my grandfather knew very well about his body condition and became more anxious and depressed about our responses. I believe, all people have the right to know all related to themselves, including bad news.
Furthermore, another point worth being mentioned in that telling lies may become a practice, if not being prevented at the early stage. According to a psychology research conducted by professor Wang in Peking University reveals that people are unwilling to mend the drawbacks of themselves until they receive the idea they are really wrong, or they will reject to make a change.
