时态方面，要格外敏感完成时态——尤其是过去完成时态，因为过去完成时态的运用是有很多限制的：必须是为了强调时间的先后，一般句子中都会有一般过去时提醒人时间的先后问题。
这个题而言，一看A，我就会把它候选，因为before状语从句，后面主句主语it指代Austria没有歧义 B选项，there be一看就不好，如果能用主系表结构表达清楚的句子，就不要用there be C：it was...that was...里面，it无指代。后面同位语应该修饰antipodes不是澳大利亚 D：Australia was what was...不好 E：首先时态不对，lz也一定明白了，其次，Australia was what...结构本身就不好，后面还是被动！这个答案基本上就是错误的合集啊亲~最后，语义上也不通：澳大利亚是之前被人为地antipodes。改变了原句语意
