98. Delta Products Inc. has recently switched at least partly from older technologies using fossil fuels to new technologies powered by electricity. The question has been raised whether it can be concluded that for a given level of output Delta’s operation now causes less fossil fuel to be consumed than it did formerly. The answer, clearly, is yes, since the amount of fossil fuel used to generate the electricity needed to power the new technologies is less than the amount needed to power the older technologies, provided level of output is held constant.

结论是Delta 公司换新技术省油，也就是第二句黑体的内容

第一句+since后面那句话是前提

举个例子：如果好好复习，每个人都有机会考700+，某人已经好好复习n个月了，因此，某人有机会考700+

某人已经好好复习n个月了这句的作用和本题第一段黑体作用一样

如果好好复习，每个人都有机会考700+ 这句跟本题最后since那句的作用一样

provides support for the conclusion 支持结论

identifies the content of that conclusion 说明结论内容，即是结论本身

正如楼上说的那样，这题的第一个BF明显是给conclusion提供支持的，楼主试一下有了这一点，结论是不是成立就知道了；第二个BF就是conclusion了，因为前面很明显地说了：whether it can be CONCLUDED that....所以是try to identify the CONTENT of the conclusion.

(C) The first states the conclusion of the argument; the second calls that conclusion into question.

(D) The first provides support for the conclusion of the argument; the second calls that conclusion into question.

(E) Each provides support for the conclusion of the argument.

后半句不对，第二个boldface不是conclusion, 只是the content of the conclusion。第二个黑体不包括"Thequestion has been raised whether it can be concluded that"这部分，所以不是call someting into question.

不同意三楼对答案B的解释。第二个黑体不是the conclusion of the argument, it only states the content of the argument.
