应该不是特指哪块冰融掉了，所以不用the.

melting 这里是动名词，且是泛指，与后面的a rise泛指并列。

泛指不可以和特指并列。

我记得possibility和may可以一起用，OG上好像有。

可能是这个题里有may的选项may后面的内容不对，所以就选一个相对最好的，看来考试的时候也要具体情况具体分析，不能千篇一律

听XDF说过, 动名词前一定有个THE, (据说是是用这个方法判别是动名词还是分词),似乎和这里矛盾了.

有谁可以帮忙解惑一下吗?

我觉得4楼的说法很有启发性. GWD说过, 做SC的时候, 并列原则是要优先考虑的, 当你难以抉择的时候, 要优先选择在并列上没有问题的选项.

如果melting前面+the是指特定，那如果前面+a与后面的a rise平行，这样可以吗？？

单单看melting前面没有冠词实在觉得怪怪的

第一, 我查字典, 朗文里面提到melting可以在书面语作形容词

Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English

melting

melt·ing /ˈmeltɪŋ/ adj [usually before noun] written

if someone gives you a melting look or speaks to you in a melting voice, it makes you feel pity or love for them

但是英汉医药词典里面有提到melting本身可以做名词. 所以E里面的melting and a rise是可以并列的, 而且不用加定冠词the表示泛指

n.融解,熔化

第二, B的may我觉得反而不是大问题, 关键还是并列项. 第一项the melting of polar ice caps的核心词语是the melting, 后面the rising sea level由于少了介词所以中心词变成sea level, 试问the melting and the sea level可以并列吗?
