1. Below is an excerpt from a letter that was sent by the chairman of a corporation to the stockholders.

A number of charges have been raised against me, some serious, some trivial. Individuals seeking to control the corporation for their own purposes have demanded my resignation. Remember that no court of law in any state has found me guilty of any criminal offense whatsoever. In the American tradition, as you know, an individual is considered innocent until proven guilty. Furthermore, as the corporation’s unbroken six-year record of growth will show, my conduct of my official duties as chairman has only helped enhance the success of the corporation, and so benefited every stockholder.

Which of the following can be properly inferred from the excerpt?

(A) The chairman believes that all those who have demanded his resignation are motivated by desire to control the corporation for their own purposes.

(B) Any misdeeds that the chairman may have committed were motivated by his desire to enhance the success of the corporation.

(D) The corporation has expanded steadily over the past six years.（D）

我认为选A,但答案是D.the corporation’s unbroken six-year record of growth 并不一定是the past six years.请NN帮忙指点

本题我也疑惑中，但觉的A应该不对，它只是短文中第2句的逆命题，自然意思会有偏颇，但答案D应该也有问题，因为enhance the success of the corporation, and so benefited every stockholder不能说明The corporation has expanded steadily 。我觉得E应该是对的，因为既然没有法律案件证明他是有罪的，也就是说所有的法律诉讼都最后宣布他无罪。

请指点。

"Furthermore, as the corporation’s unbroken six-year record of growth will show,..."应该是这句话说明了corporation has expanded steadily,而不时"enhance the success of the corporation, and so benefited every stockholder".

也许此题的考点是"steadily"是unbroken" 的同义替换吧.因为其他选项确实都可以排除.我选A只是因为觉得其他都不对.THANK U ALL

unbroken并不能说明是steadily的吧，如果我第一年增长10%，第二年80%，第三年又是10%,这个不能叫steadily吧.....

我选了C....谁能帮忙解释一下啊....想不明白C哪里错

原文中说　In the American tradition, as you know, an individual is considered innocent until proven guilty. 而且现在 no court of law in any state has found the chairman guilty of any criminal offense.

这只能推出－court of law consider chairman innocent,而非chairman真的innocent.

选项C在偷换概念。

我选了D，同意6、13楼的意见以及1楼关于A的意见。但是否可以帮忙解释一下e错在哪里。没有想明白。谢谢！

E里面的内容，文章中没提到阿。

我排除D是因为我以为growth和expanded不是一回事，一个是业绩增长一个是规模扩张……泪

错选了A，A是错在了individuals和all those的区别么？题中说是个别人想seek to control，而A项说所有人都想。是么？

这题很有意思是道很好的逻辑训练题

文中说：有人想control the corporation所以赶他下台 . A选项说他相信所有的赶他下台的人都想control the corporation 逻辑错误就在这里因为有些赶他下台的人并不是想 control the corporation 可能有其他原因

E 项any从原文中推不出来

D项为何成立？ 美国人的思维是这样的：原文中说the corporation’s unbroken six-year record 有可能就是过去的连续6年（也有可能不是）他们想问题不需要充分性觉得“有这个可能性”就行了

我们的思维是：原文只说是连续6年又没说是连续哪六年因此不选这种思维方式在GMAT中不能有

C错是因为an individual is considered innocent until proven guilty. 而答案少了considered

is considered 和 is 是不一样的。
