请问many of them in the area just for the season做什么成份？我觉得应该是many of whom are in the area just for the season.

many of them修饰前面的workers，你说的many of them以及many of whom are 都是可以的，问题在于that从句的修饰，只能是green fields，而不可能是patchwork，所以B中的主谓不一致。

但是你注意到了吗，many of them 后没有are, 不能构成定语从句，难道是独立主格？
