Airport official: Local residents have been complaining that night fights into Plainsville airport disturb their sleep and
should be sharply reduced in number. This complaint is completely unreasonable—there have been night flights
coming into the airport from the very beginning, twenty years ago, and these residents should have taken that fact
into account when buying their homes.

Which of the following is an assumption on which the airport argument depends?

A. There are fewer night flights now than there were originally.
B. The residents who are complaining have been in their current homes fewer than twenty years.
C. The residents who are complaining are ignoring the benefits they gain from the presence of the airport.

答案是B，可是B的反义是not fewer,也包含the same的意思，怎么能削弱呢？居民呆在家的次数始终一样，照样反驳结论呢？
我是想问问B选项把fewer改为not more，是不是更好？取非就是more,居民在家里次数多，听到噪音多，就更容易抱怨，削弱结论。
还有，是不是文档的原因，than twenty years是清楚的表达方式吗？乱了。

B项的意思应该是那些抱怨的人应该在近20年之内才住过来的，因为……twenty years ago, and these residents should have taken that fact into account when buying their homes.
这是Airport official的argument，就是机场建成先于那些居民搬来，那他们早就应该考虑到机场的影响。
取非：那些人在20年或20年之前就住这儿，要么就是居民搬来先于机场建成，要么居民搬来和机场建成同时完成，居民都无法知道机场的影响，所以削弱。

不理解啊，20年之内才住过来，已经有了机场了啊，应该能考虑到机场噪音的影响，反而20年前在机场建成之前住过来的可以抱怨啊，因为他们那时候不知道会建机场，我觉得答案应该是more than 20years，为什么是fewer呢

正是因为airport的人认为他们都是在20年以内搬来的，所以他们应该考虑到机场的影响，而事实上（与假设相反）居民大多是20年前搬进来的，所以没法在当时考虑机场的影响

这里的assumption 很明显就是 airport 方面认为 nightflights 先于居民住这里居民既然选择住这里就不该抱怨
至于E 可以说这是另外一种形式的out of scope 因为对象已经转移了由居住在附近的居民转移到了Plainsville的居民

E不是结论成立的必要条件，把E取非，结论仍然可以成立！
如：一些人要在P买房，他们选址时并不避开机场，因为他们可以在听到夜班机噪声时不抱怨。
这个反例足以说明，当E前提不成立时，结论仍然可以成立，所以E不是结论成立的前提。

好吧我做错主要是选项没看懂。。只看到fewer没看到than，其实B说的是抱怨的人在这里住的时间少于20年。
