General Management?

I also applied for the Cornell and alreay submitted for the priority run

In my opinion, Cornell's essay is very general.

I applied for Cornell because of its great reputation. However, the weather there may be another consideration

同样的还有DARDEN(空气质量TOP5,儿童生长环境TOP1,老年向往居住地TOP5...)

Hey Bryony-

Did the application indicate that you must have proof of financial support?? I don't have the application with me right now and cannot tell what exact they meant by "having $100,000". I believe Cornell has a good loan program for international students. The following is from their website: "Students must have verifiable assets equal to or greater than the amount of the loan they are requesting. This loan requires no cosigner, but offers a cosigner option if the student borrower does not have the required assets to qualify for the loan." Sounds like they just want to make sure you can repay the loan.

I think having or not having sufficient fund is probably not going to have an impact on your admission. Usually decision for financial aid is not linked to admission. But this is just my own guess. Please also check with others who might have better opinion.

Good luck! I'm also applying to Cornell and still working on my essays

Just a few things to add to the discussion:

Generally speaking Cornell is an excellent school with great (and well-deserved, in my opinion) reputation. I admit that Cornell's overall reputation helps a bit in its MBA ranking. But that goes for the other Ivy League schools as well. Cornell, (and I'll throw in UVA-Darden and Dartmouth) is in relatively remote location. "Remote" as I'm comparing it to places, say NY city, or Chicago. It's a personal thing. If you want the big-city, metropolitan type of lifestyle, then none of the three is for you. But those locations can work to your advantage as well.  For one thing, I think all three have small classes and thus you get to know your classmates better. I honestly don't know how much "networking" you can do when the entering class is 1000. Again, it's a personal choice. And weather-wise, it's bitterly cold in winter .

I don't know how many mainland Chinese are currently in Cornell-Johnson. I assume there are a good number of them. Others may have better statistics.

thanks Jane.

I guess cornell doesn't require financial proof before issuing an offer. So, I guess they just want to know whether I have enough money. Well, to get the information. Anyway, since i don't have that much, I decide to tell them the truth.

I apply for the first run. How about you?

I am also working on my essays. good luck to both of us!

one thing i don't like about cornell is that the interview is by invitation only. By the way, for international students outside US, do they provide alumni interview. I like face to face one.

Bryony-

I'm also (trying) to apply for first round. Just took the GMAT last week and have been proscrastinating with the essays

I actually like "Interview by Invivation only". It at least shows that you have passed the initial screening and that you have a better shot to get in. The whole application process is so time consuming and expensive, not to mention emotional exhaustive. I'd prefer to know early on that I don't have a chance with certain schools rather than wasting my time and energy to prep/go for the interview only to be ding-ed later on. Of course, getting an interview with Cornell is not any indication of admission, but still...

I just checked the website for you regarding interview outside US, but I didn't find anything. So I'll assume that when you get the email from the admission office about interview, they would give you the option of meeting with an alumni face to face. If not, definitely tell them that's what you prefer and hopefully they'll accomodate. People from Cornell are genuinely nice folks. That's one of the reasons I'm applying there.

Now back to essays

Hi, everyone:

I already applied for the "priority run" at 10/14. The decision will be around 12/23.

I think we can discuss some application experience with each other.

So far I did not get any interview invitation. So worried about it.... >_<

Good luck to all of you.

DING: what it means?

It seems that so many Cornell applicants have gathered here under the topic initiated by a non-applicant -- me. Interesting

Anyone got an invite from Cornell? .....I am a Priority Round applicant, still waiting for this..
