请教Q3: A

The state has proposed new rules that would set minimum staffing levels for nurses, rules intended to ensure that at least one nurse is assigned for every four patients put through triage in a hospital emergency room.

  • rules intended to ensure that at least one nurse is assigned for every four patients put through triage in a hospital emergency room

  • rules with the intent of ensuring one nurse at least to be assigned for every four patients to be put through triage in a hospital emergency room

  • rules intending to ensure at least one nurse is assigned for every four patients in a hospital emergency room put through triage

  • with the intent of ensuring that at least one nurse should be assigned for every four patients in a hospital emergency room that are put through triage

  • and this is intended to ensure one nurse at least to be assigned for every four patients put through triage in a hospital emergency room

    1. "this" cannot refer to "rules".            run-on

    2. "at least one nurse" is preferable to "one nurse at least"

this is a standard 'tong2 wei4 yu3' question.        proposed new rules...., rules.....

根据ensure 的用法:ensure + noun; 或者 ensure + that...

    排除B,C,E

    A,D 排除D

intended plays what role in the sentence? I look A a run-on sentence too.

可以理解为 rules that are intended to...

    是不是没有with the intent of这样的用法?

只有with the intention of  和intended to 这样的用法

    from Longman:

with intent to do something. e.g. He is charged with possession of a gun with intent to commit a robbery.

    intend v.

    1
to have something in your mind as a plan or purpose
    ᅳsee also intention
    intend to do something
I intend to spend the night there.
    intend somebody/something to do something
I didn't intend her to see the painting until it was finished. I never intended things to turn out the way they did.
    intend that
It is intended that these meetings will become a regular event.
    intend doing something
We intend looking at the situation again.
I fully intend (=definitely intend) to return home next year.
    2
    be intended for somebody/something
to be provided or designed for a particular purpose or person
The book is intended for children aged 5-7.
    3
    intended target/victim/destination etc
the person, thing, result etc that an action is intended to affect or reach
It seems likely that General Rogers was the killer's intended victim.

Ensure 后要j加that 马?

    C is wrong, because:

    1."rules intending " is wrong!

2."Patients..put... " should be as close as posible!

3.as you said, no "that" after ensuring

    1. "this" cannot refer to "rules".            run-on

    run-on吗?

    A:正确

    B:rules怎么能跟with the intent呢,逻辑错误吧

D:should be不如is好,ensuring已经强调了这种语气;that are put through triage修饰错误

An inventory equal to 90 days sales is as much as even the strongest businesses carry, and the only as a way to anticipate higher prices or ensure against shortages.

The commission acknowledged that no amount of money or staff members can ensure the safety of people who live in the vicinity of a nuclear plant, but it approved the installation because it believed that all reasonable precautions had been taken.

To ensure consistently high quality in its merchandise, the chain of retail stores became involved in every aspect of their suppliers’ operations, dictating not only the number of stitches and the width of the hem in every garment as well as the profit margins of those suppliers.

Even though its per capita food supply hardly increased during two decades, stringent rationing and planned distribution have allowed the People’s Republic of China to ensure nutritional levels of 2,000 calories per person per day for its population.

Researchers tested small areas of the anteater’s snout in order to ensure that only electroreceptors were responding to the stimulus.

be necessary to ensure that the benefits of the innovation will be spread throughout the society

    with the intent of/intending主语就应该是state对吧?

    A里be intented 是被动,所以可以修饰rules。

Under the California proposal, every four patients put through triage in an emergency room will be assured at least one nurse between them. Currently, the ratio averages between 1-to-6 and 1-to-8, DeMoro said.

Triage: the method of deciding who receives medical treatment first, according to how seriously someone is injured

They were also asked how much total waiting time elapsed between triage and departure from the emergency room.

    be intended for somebody/something

to be provided or designed for a particular purpose or person

The book is intended for children aged 5-7.

这样的话.rules intended 可以看成是rules that are intended的省略了.

The state has proposed new rules that would set minimum staffing levels for nurses, rules intended to ensure that at least one nurse is assigned for every four patients put through triage in a hospital emergency room.
