Q32:

A surge in new home sales and a drop in weekly unemployment claims suggest that the economy might not be as weak as some analysts previously thought.

A.   claims suggest that the economy might not be as weak as some analysts previously thought

B.    claims suggests that the economy might not be so weak as some analysts have previously thought

C.   claims suggest that the economy might not be as weak as have been previously thought by some analysts

D.   claims, suggesting about the economy that it might not be so weak as previously thought by some analysts

E.    claims, suggesting the economy might not be as weak as previously thought to be by some analysts

   Answer: A

“A surge in new home sales and a drop in weekly unemployment ”

A surge in new home sales and a drop in weekly unemployement 就是所谓的claims.

(home sales) and (unemployment claims) are two separate phases.

'claims' does not modify 'home sales'.

The subject of the sentence is:   A surge in (...) and a drop in (...)  -------->  suggest that...

同意楼上这位朋友的观点主语是a surge and a drop比较对仗,不管从意思,还是结构(in sales /in claims)

我选了B,就因为B 中用的是 not so.. as...

hiii Droppa,

at the first glance, i also prefer B . however , "not.. as....as" is right , such as the example from Oxford Dictionary :

His eyes aren't quite as blue as they look in the film.

不是否定后成为not so..as 吗

A:正确

B:suggests错

C:被动

D:sentence fragment

E:suggesting the economy might not be as weak as previously thought to be by some analysts, suggesting后少了that;sentence fragment;to be多余

欧总觉得是Not so....as什么得,看来真有not.. as....as;

认为not as as不对的同志看过来!

应该是so ...as...

只是有not as...as...,这个用法吗?否定句中不是用not so ...as...

,而C选项用的是have been (previously) thought 。

Q32:

A surge in new home sales and a drop in weekly unemployment claims suggest that the economy might not be as weak as some analysts previously thought.

  1. claims suggest that the economy might not be as weak as some analysts previously thought

  2. claims suggests that the economy might not be so weak as some analysts have previously thought

  3. claims suggest that the economy might not be as weak as have been previously thought by some analysts

  4. claims, suggesting about the economy that it might not be so weak as previously thought by some analysts

  5. claims, suggesting the economy might not be as weak as previously thought to be by some analysts

C claims suggest that the economy might not be as weak as have been previously thought by some analysts

not as...as 谁说不可以的,当然是可以的啦!

from longman

Tom's not as old as you, is he?

B:suggests错

C:被动

D:sentence fragment

E:
suggesting the economy might not be as weak as previously thought to be
by some analysts,suggesting后少了that;sentence fragment;to be多余

What is the wrong with the "sentence fragment" here, can anybody tell me????
