(B) trying that it metabolize, or render harmless, the . chemical irritant

(D) attempt to try and metabolize, or render harmless, the chemical irritating it

(E)attempt to metabolize, or render harmless, the chemical irritant

In B, trying that it metabolize is ungrammatical. The noun attempt could follow organism's; also, it would parallel the noun enzymes,

我怎么感觉attempt应该是和production of enzymes中的production相对应啊？

怎么会呢? the organism's attempt to metabolize, or render harmless, the enzymes. 这些enzyme就是irritant chemicals,(同位语)由于体内的dioxin(毒素)产生的.

其实单从意思上来说不好区别酶是企图还是酶的产生是企图。

主要看后面两个修饰成分render harmless, the chemical irritant 只能是修饰酶而不是酶的产生。

翻译后半句应该是“二氧(杂)芑促使酶的产生，这个酶是有机体用来产生代谢变化，或产生无害物，它是一种化学刺激物”。

以上为个人的理解，希望高人指点。

1.从are可知是对应enzymes，不是production

2.以前的帖说the chemical irritant是指dioxin，中文为：dioxin诱发了enzymes, enzymes是为了把dioxin新陈代谢掉，或至少把D变得无害。

3.另外我有个问题：是不是因为metabilize与render共用一个宾语the chemical irritant，所以才将宾语移至最后？
