可不可以看做省略了that were

过去分词V-ed做名词的后置定语，表达被动或完成的意思。

cut 过去分词和原型是同一个单词，且就近修饰 trenches ,在句子中起modifer次要作用，楼主需要提干找到正确的谓语 have yielded
