15题是不是说,the first clause is a negative point.so if we use the "also",the second clause must be negative point.

15题中的结构应该是是not...but,而E选项中则错误地写成了not...but also,是个“混搭”错误。

这个结构错误的原因,我想,应该是but also连用时,逻辑上表达的是递进的意思,那么前后的两个clause应该说的至少是一个方向的观点,而不能是方向恰好相反的两个观点。

此时,我又想到了not only...,but also...的结构,这个结构同样,是要求平行的,平列的两部分在逻辑上是递进的意思,而且这个结构不可以用于否定句中。

就是这样吧~~

对also表达的意思我有这样的理解:它的意思可以翻译成“而且”更合适,至少这样更有助于解题。

also表达的意思总是在前面句子意思上的延伸。

这道题真的颠覆了我以前对破折号的理解。

没有,这句话中的that从句作believe的宾语,是解释前面部分 ,重述也算把它解释了一番吧!
OG的解释是这么说的
Scientists believe that X----[ in other words] that Y,In this construction,X and Y are parallel.
