Verb form; Logical Predication;

这个句子是想表达一个报告声明了一组数据，这组数据和上一份报告相比，相差比较大。前后两个半句直接需要有cause-effect的关系，用分号割裂了这个关系，使得前后两个半句没有了联系。容易让人认为这个报告说有 141 trillion cubic feet ，上一个报告说会从410 trillion cubic feet 下降66%，两者不存在什么关系。另外，时态方面，没有特殊的标志证明需要用过去完成时。

我选D选项（1’20‘’）

原因：
A选项had contained时态不对，contain的动作不是发生在任何题目提到的过去动作之前
B选项compared出现在句中，其逻辑主语不清晰；which从句说report是gas，逻辑讲不同；had contained时态错误；句末同位语找不到解释说明的对象
C选项had contained时态错误；Run-on句型；compared with的逻辑主语不清晰
D选项正确：contained时态正确；representing表伴随
E选项that从句中时态错误；gas represents estimation意思讲不通

which指代用法错误：report IS NOT 410 trillion cubic feet of gas； 时态错误。appositive “a drop”指代不明

时态错误。分号之内的noun clause 不能进一步解释estimation，represents应该为representing.

选D
原句中没有表示用完成时态的词出现，所以A和C用了过去完成时就错了
compare to 表示“将……比作”，而原句是要做比较，所以B中的to 应该改成with
E的逻辑意思不对，gas本身不能代表数据
原句的意思是报告测量的结果说明含量的下降，是前面的句子对后面造成的影响，用ing 形式，所以选D

我选D

首先通过时态排除A,C选项，这里不需要用到过去完成时。
然后因为B选项里的which用法不对，指代上出了逻辑错误，排除B
最后E选项的语义上犯了逻辑错误，gas和estimation不是一类东西

Manhattan SC里说，"The GMAT ignores the traditional distinction between 'compared to' and 'compared with' ."
所以这里compared to不需要改成compared with

B.Had contained时态错误；the last report is 421 trillion cubic feet逻辑意思不合理；a drop同位语，修饰141 trillion cubic feet of gas意思错误；compared 的逻辑主语问题！
C.Had contained时态错误；had contained...represents a...结构不完整；
D.
E.the gas represents estimation 错误，主系表结构意思须合理！

认为选D。E的主要问题个人认为在于那个 a gas representing...，不是gas代表了drop，gas怎么能表示drop呢，表示drop的是number/amount/figure.

我支持2,3,5,6,7,8,9楼的答案。D

但是，D也是相对其他选项来说没有硬伤的一个，如果改成contained gas whose storage is 141 trillion cubic feet就更完美了，这样representing及其后面的a 66 percent drop from the 410 trillion cubic feet就更加合理了。
