Today, the management is the key factor of the business success. Moreover, the quality of the leader often decides the quality of the management. How to define a excellence leader. The author claims that the leader should have the ability to communicate and motive the employees. But some scholars still insist that the ability to plan, to organize and to solve problems is more important. According to the management concepts, there are four stages in the corporation development. First, the beginning step; second, the growing step; then, the maturing step; at last, the perfecting step. The corporations in different step have different features. In my opinion, the corporations in different developing steps need leaders with different qualities.
On the one hand, when the corporations stand in the first or second step, the leaders should be more capable to plan, to organize and to solve the problem. Because, corporation is scarce of regulations at that time, and the hierarchy is not clear. The employees all focus on how to enlarge the marketing occupancy, how to make the greatest profit, and how defeat the existed competitors. But nearly nobody think about how to manage the company. Therefore, the company needs the leaders to apply their ability to institute the system, ensure the goals, clear the organization structure, assign the work, and solve the daily problem. On the contrary, if there are no leaders who are good at planning, organizing and solving the problems in the first beginning and growing years, the corporation will tend toward bankrupt in short time.
On the other hand, when the corporations become mature and perfect, the leader can hire experts to plan, to organize and to solve the problems. But nobody can help the leader to communict the mission and to inspire the employees. A leader can understand the goal of the organization and communicate naturally with people at any workplaces and inspire them to work with fulfilling that goal. Also lots of communication times with many people help to give a good effect to the organization itself. After many times of communication, a leader and its people can understand each other well, and the relationship between both is more and more strong, people are followed well by the leadership. That smooth circulation leads to be beneficial to the internal and external growth of the organizaion.
Finally, I want to take the Lenveno and its CEO-Liu Chuanzhi as the instance. When Leveno was at the beginning and growing stage in the first five years, Mr. Liu applied himself to program the corporation’s future, to institute a series of available regulations, to confirm the strategies and tactics, and to establish the organization structure fit for Leveno. Now, Leveno is the most successful computer corporations in China. Mr. Liu changes his action. Today, he is more likely to focus on the communication with his employees, and his main responsibility is to publicize the corporation culture and mission. His interaction with the employees resulted in cooperation and enthusiasm toward fulfilling the mission.
In conclusion, we can not define which the ability of the leader is better. But the key factor of the success is that leaders should use different ability to suit the different corporations in different steps.
