标题: G770 T102 复旦物理小本，GPA 2.4（的确很低）四年IT咨询经验，求定位
GMAT是四年多前，大学毕业时候考的。托福的话，writing低一点，22 。
教育背景方面，听说“北清复交”会有点帮助，不过GPA实在有点低了，大学都玩掉了啊，现在有点后悔。。。

工作经验：共4年，前三年在一家保险行业核心软件系统公司（在保险行业内地位挺高的，全球vender里能排到第二第三的样子）做IT咨询，title是BA（business analyst）。做的都是国际项目，国际出差和短期工作经历。
现在在IBM，也是做个。
post-MBA想转finance。先在考出了CFA II，明年考level 3。

GMAT马上要过期了，必须要申请明年出去了。
自己希望能申请top 15的program，请问机会大吗？

G本身很强，GPA也确实够低，试试看前15吧，选2-3个。top30比较保险一些。有些学校确实比较在意GPA，有些一点也不在意

个人建议看看什么core course分数低，然后补下认可课程或者说明自己是如何在这些课程方面弥补不足的

楼上说的这个网站是很多b-school拿来做pre online course的。我觉得take course需要最后有个成绩的认可吧，这样才好解释如何弥补和提高的。

看了一下register中的信息，有作为applicant的注册选项，而且在Admitted or Enrolled Program,US top BS基本都有。感觉还是要给目标BS以及这个网站的邮箱发邮件问清楚最直接了。

可以从这样的角度看：Top学校在us news排名上不是都有average gpa么（当然brochure里面也有），如果和average差很多的话，你总要给学校一个要你的理由，怎样才充足呢。古往今来都有特别牛的偏才，但成为偏才之前的路往往曲折坎坷，如若没有那点运气，这种种煎熬谁又想或者能承担呢

给人的感觉除了极个别明确要求的学校会有些加分，其他的学校都是可有可无的。At least it won't hurt...

HBS的话，GPA低，机会就很少了，根正苗红伤不起。其他学校问题都不大，看整体package。Top 16可能也不容易，建议考虑17-30的项目，同时Top16多申请几个，分散风险。

我不觉得GPA会是问题，每年都有2+的人进M7的，看你怎么写自己了，GMAT很高啊，我还认识人GT都低，2.4的照样TOP 3了，GPA已经不能改变了，就不用想了，别的做做好

Okay my friend, you have a tough profile here, but you could definitely give it a shot to Top 15-20 programs, and thank s to your GMAT have a good chance of getting in! The tricky thing for you will be your story. (and your GPA, but like you wrote, that’s already over, so no need to worry about that (even if you should explain it), plus you did the vest thing you could be getting a 770). So your story – right now its all over the place, you start off in physics, work in software and want to move to finance. If I were on the AdCom, this would seem a bit messy to me. What about all your physics studies? What about your years of experience in computing? Where and how will you take advantage of this experience? The thing is that from the point of view of the Adcom you maybe aren’t the best candidate for finance, they are gonna have LOADS of Chinese applicants who want to move on in finance and who already have years of experience, and by declaring such goals you might be unnecessarily putting yourself at a disadvantage.. so I would reconsider a bit the goals, so that you can strategically choose goals that would increase your chances. hope this helps

Thank you very much, dude! I'm also considering changing career goal to consulting, because it's more reasonalbe to switching from IT consulting to management consulting, focusing in the industry I'm familiar with.

泼盆冷水，我之前说楼主进top 15有戏，但career goal写consulting，我就持谨慎态度了，一来，consulting这种career goal被写烂掉了，二来，你本身就是consultant了，即便从IT转行到管理咨询，也不是啥难事儿，三来，你肯定有一些个更有意思的career goal的选择，我一直的观点就是，career goal是MBA申请的灵魂，要好好挖掘，再怎么认真对待也不过分。

第四，如果我是top 20的学校，我特别担心你找consulting，万一你找的不顺利呢？尽管每个top学校都有机会，但不可否认的是，consulting看学校牌子看的还是很厉害的。

LZ你想做什么就写什么，不要过于考虑“合理性”，如果你真心想做，你写出来就是合理的。
你如果确实很想做Finance，那么你的Essay肯定有很多料可以写，比如你可能平时就很有关注，很有思考，还甚至做出了很多努力比如业余考个CFA什么的。这些都是基于你自己的热爱自然而然的东西，写进Essay就很有说服力。
反过来，你写一个你不是真实想做的东西，看上去合理，但是没有力度，因为你本身没有热情，也没有对它做出过思考和努力。
