从or render harmless开始不明白这个是什么意思 render和metabloze平行么？是什么意思呢　　以及the chemical irritant在句子里做什么成分？什么意思。。

render和metabolize平行，the chemical irritant是宾语。完整的句子应该是dioxin includes the production of enzymes that are the organism's attempt to metabolize the chemical irritant, or render harmless the chemical irritant.

解释很对，只是有个地方纠正一下，不是or render harmless the chemical irritant. 而是or render the chemical irritant harmless .

还是应该render harmless chemical irritant吧，不然按照你的解释应该是harmlessly
