纠结在D和E选项。
解释说E错，因为用that，让人觉得plan就是 cut debt和sell assets。
恰恰我就是这样想的，我觉得E是说plan是 cut debt，实现这个cut debt的方法是 sell assets，挺好。不需要to cut 表目的吧？

我觉得固定用法是announce plans (in order) to ...

E应该改成 announced plans so as to ...才顺

至于具体语法我也说不上来。希望有帮助。

plan to do 说plan的目的是能干嘛。
plan that are to 有plan要干嘛，这里错的原因是plan不能主动发起某个动作，that 从句将plan拟人了

plan就是计划要做的事情,E that are to cut累赘，直接用to cut修饰plan就好了

上beatthegmat搜了一下，有人说是typo, 也有个大神说是这样理解的，

“The intended meaning is that Wednesday is WHEN the executive ANNOUNCED:
The executive ANNOUNCED plans WEDNESDAY to cut the company's huge debt.

Here, Wednesday serves as an adverb similar to yesterday or today:
The executive announced plans TODAY.
The executive announced plans YESTERDAY.
The executive announced plans WEDNESDAY.”

标题: 对于不定式最近比较纠结
这道题CD讨论的很少啊！

本人与LZ有同样的问题，本来复习过程中没有认为不定式是个问题，但是最近发现了一些不定式的题，而且最近看到这道题感觉对于不定式有些纠结，虽然做题时不会太纠结，基本也能选对，但是对于不定式的问题还是想尽量弄清楚，这样之后做其他题时也可作为一个判断点来判断

这道题我开始认为to do应该是定语修饰plan，因为prep08sc2-212也写过类似用法：
announce a decision/intention/plan (在这个时候如果plan等后面接to do不会产生to do做状语修饰announce的歧义)*:The government has announced plans to create 10,000 new jobs.

但是此次og13在解释E选项时也就是说that (plans) are to cut...有plans自己行事的意思，如果是这样那是不是D项to do定语修饰plans也有这个意思呢？那为何D项可以呢？而且对于这个问题更加不明白了，白勇语法在讲到不定式做定语时说一些词如way，method，attemp，reason等必须不定式做定语，不定式做表语时讲到一些词如aim，task，duty，goal等（也是类似做定语的词）be+to do，但是这些词也都没有自己行使的功能啊，而且可以解释为“...就是...”，所以be+to do不定式是可以如此用的我认为，不太明白为何OG说有自己行事的意思。而且我找到 OG13的13题
There are several ways to build solid walls using just mud or clay, but the most extensively used method has been the forming of bricks out of mud or clay, and, after some preliminary air drying or sun drying, they are laid in the wall in mud mortar.

正确答案D中就是这么使用的，但是way也不可能自己form和lay?

所以我认为是不是D项to do其实是状语修饰announce，然后plans是逻辑主语啊，这样也讲得通，announce的目的是cut...debt，不是executives cut，而是plans cut。且原句用for cutting我觉得还是想考表目的状语修饰不用for doing，而是用to do，这样来看to do做状语也合考点。所以E项把状语修饰的to do变为that定从修饰plans所以不对，并不是are to cut的问题？

那这样就等于是与经典的prep08笔记相悖了，而且og13自己解释E项时也是这么说的，所以我自己实在是不明白了，恳请NN出来指点指点！

the method(to build......) has been to do is similar to the structure the way to do is to.....

to build here is understandable because such structure is explicitly mentioned in the former part

you should read the OG's explanation again：look at what the sentence is trying to convey

the latter is a sample of the former

parallelism of to be verb is testing here

我自己又看了下OG的解释，而且又结合之前看过的不定式的用法的总结，再结合你说的，我基本明白了。我自己概括如下，你看我理解的是否正确，也供大家指正：
1，单就og13-13题，考的是平行，就像你说的the method (to do) is to do... 考to do 平行，那表意也不是method自己行事，而是表“就是”的含义，按照意思理解无非是把动词加to变为非谓语来描述这个动作的。而且如果没有前面的to do，这类词如果be动词的结构还是要用to do的，也就是说没有前面平行的话这类词也是要用to do的，我找到一个og在解释其他题时用的一句话“The intent of the sentence is to contrast the honeybee and the yellow jacket.”，所以是否这类to do结构的表意understandable，虽然不是这些词行事的动作，但是不会有歧义，所以才如此使用。

2，同理，to do做这些词的定语时也是如此，有点属于特殊的定语修饰，有“动宾”关系。因为我看到aeoluseros版主之前总结的to do不定式用法时如是说：
不定式做定语的含义：
不定式在句中作定语，置于被修饰的名词或代词之后。如：
The next train to arrive is from Washington.
Have you anything to be taken to your sister?
Do you have anything to say on the question?
Would you please give me some paper to write on?
My wish to visit France has come true at last.
不定式短语作定语和被修饰词之间表示以下关系：
(1)表示将来的动作（例）。
(2)与被修饰词之间有动宾关系，如是不及物动词，则需加介词（例）。
(3)与被修饰词之间有动宾关系，同时与句中其它词之间又有逻辑上的主谓关系时，尽管有被动含义，却仍用主动语态（例）；如只有动宾关系，而无逻辑上的主谓关系，则需用被动语态（例）。

要是按照这样说的话the method to do，method不会to do，但是既然可以这样用就等于是特殊”动宾“关系，没有歧义，所以og13-68题 plans Wednesday to cut... to cut应该是定语修饰plans，所以prep08说的announce a decision/intention/plan (在这个时候如果plan等后面接to do不会产生to do做状语修饰announce的歧义)*:The government has announced plans to create 10,000 new jobs.是没有错的，而且A项用for cutting修饰不对，因为plans这类词要用to do做定语修饰。

所以og13-68题关于og解释说E项plans that are to cut有plans自己cut的意思，我认为此处不是主系表的单一结构，原句想以此表达”plans是要减少..“，但是就有be to do的主观将来时的歧义，类似be going to或be about to，此处的be不是实意动词”是“，而是助动词，所以og说有plans自己cut的意思。同时，og说that are多余，也就是如想直接定语修饰plans，直接to do即可，就没有歧义了。

我又想到关于to do的定语修饰，想再问是不是只有这类词 aim，intention，method等词的to do修饰可以没有真实的动宾关系，其他词的to do修饰都要有aeoluseros版主总结不定式时说的动宾关系啊？比如Do you have anything to say on the question句子就是say anything。所以以下句子都应该是状语修饰：
og13-18 正确句子 Warning thatcomputers in the United States
are not secure, the National Academyof Sciences has urged the nation to revamp computer security procedures,institute new emergency response teams, and create a special nongovernmentorganization to take charge of computer security planning.
organization不会take charge，所以应该是to take charge修饰create，然后organization是逻辑主语

verbal分册2nd - 58. 原题 Lawmakers are examining measures that would require banks to disclose all fees and account requirements in writing, provide free cashing of government checks, and to create basic savings accounts to carry minimal fees and require minimal initial deposits.
accounts不会自己carry，所以to carry变为修饰create了，也可以理解为逻辑主语是accounts，但是实际这不是create的目的，按照句意可理解是accounts的内容，所以改为定从。

而且我也想起了之前aeoluseros总结的不定式说，do A to do B，to do B不是修饰A的，而是修饰do A的，一般这种to do B结构上也不太会和A和动宾关系了，所以感觉to do定语修饰的情况还是比较少，也作为给大家的提示吧！

还是关于for cutting和to cut 的修饰，之前差不多搞明白了to do的这些用法，今天突然发现og解释说A项Putting the phrase were announced

那请问这个for cutting是可以做定语修饰plan的是吗？也就是如果D项改为

是对的吗？突然发现题目未划线部分也用了for，strategy for nursing the troubled

非常巧，刚看到一个帖子回答了我的问题，贴上供同样不解的CDers参考。
刚刚看了一个RON的解释。结合babybear

to do VS for doing

to do 更多强调immediate/direct goal 偏动作性， do这个动作肯定是还没有做。
for doing 强调 ultimate/ indirect goal, 偏名词性， for doing ”这个动作“可能做了也可能没做，修饰紧邻名词。

babybearmm 的ultimate 让我纠结抽搐了好一阵，看到RON 的indirect，终于明白babybear 想说啥了。

很明显这题take charge of computer security planning 还没做，且是immediate goal。所以用"to take charge".

就像千行里面那个例子一样1：
I need a shoe to run。这里强调的是run 这个动作，直接目的是run，就好像，在运动场上，大家都跑了，但是你没跑，教练对你喊：run！run！！你说，： i need a shoe to run..
I need a shoe for running. 这里强调，我要的那双鞋，目的是要鞋，running 只不过是那双鞋的特性。而run 并不是 direct 的goal，就像在鞋店里，你对营业员说，I need a shoe for runinig。而不能说， i need a shoe to run。
对么？

请DUKB或者sisi给确认确认我联系的对吧。另再问一下为何og的A项解释说for cutting有修饰announced的歧义啊？按照下面的解释for cutting修饰plans是可以的，但是也可修饰动词吗？修饰动词的应该都是to do不定式吧？

前面有人提到Wednesday没有on也是可以的，不过你说的that感觉修饰Wednesday这个我到是没想到，这样的小跳跃也许可以吧，跳跃修饰plans，to do的定语修饰也跳跃了啊。不过既然是错项，肯定这种也许有你说的因素，跳跃不如to do不定式修饰更好。

Wednesday这里是做adverb,所以That不可能修饰Wednesday......

谢谢，我之前没有仔细想这道题的for doing 和 to do的深意。看到你的解释一目了然，这么说确实是这样子的，to do强调是的 to do这个动作表示目的。而for doing强调是前面的事情，for doing应该是原因。至于别的to do 的含义，我没有遇到，所以也没有仔细想想。看你看OG如此的详细，有点启发。谢谢

我感觉这道题应该是to cut 表目的来修饰announce plan. 而后面by selling nearly...才是对plan内容的解释，如果用that are to就直接修饰plan了。
这道题可以跟OG13 SC13做比较，按理来说 method本身也是不能发出动作的，但还是用了类似的表达method is to form the mud or clay...这里就是对method直接做的一个解释。

不知道这样理解对不对？

引自国外论坛的解析：The use of the word "Wednesday" without "on" is similar to the use of "today" or "yesterday." Also if there were "on", it would suggest that the plans concern Wednesday and not that they are announced on Wednesday.

我的理解是，manhattan里面有讲到to do 的语法点的动作发出者，通常，to do 表目的状语的时候，那么动作发出者是主语.
所以，plans that are to do 的逻辑发出者是 plans。这里plan 是无法发出这个动作，所以E 的解释才这样说 suggests that themselves are doing the cutting and selling .

OG 13,13 题这里的，the method is to do 不是一个表目的的状语，而是与前句保持平行的一种形式。there are several ways to build solid。

open to discussion.
