这道题的正确选项是A，我有一个疑问，如果把A项的they
are named for the New Mexico site where they
were first discovered in 1932.改为they
had been named for the New Mexico site where they
were first discovered in 1932.
这样修改以后能否正确

我觉得改成had been named后就不正确了，原因如下（如有不对，敬请告知啊）：原句中are named是一般时的被动语态，只是为了说明这个地方被命名了。如果换成had been named，那么相应的where they were first discovered in 1932的时态也要变，因为“命名这个动作”肯定发生在“第一次被发现”之后。具体你可以看一下下面这个帖子，baby在其中解释的很详细

我觉得改成had been named后就不正确了，原因如下（如有不对，敬请告知啊）：原句中are named是一般时的被动语态，只是为了说明这个地方被命名了。如果换成had been named，那么相应的where they were first discovered in 1932的时态也要变，因为“命名这个动作”肯定发生在“第一次被发现”之后。具体你可以看一下下面这个帖子，baby在其中解释的很详细

那如果改成这样呢
Even though Clovis points, spear points with
longitudinal grooves chipped onto their faces,
have been found all over North America, they
were named for the New Mexico site where they
had been first discovered in 1932

还有一个问题，这个命名是过去发生的，A项中运用一般现在时，OG12第一题也是命名那个山，但是使用了过去式

这里的they are named和第一题的who so named them并不一样，要考虑句义，再看语法合不合适。

这里的they are named更是一种站在现在的角度来诉说【客观事实】的这么一种视角，他们是以XXX命名的。当时是这么命名的，现在也是以这个命名。

第一题who so named them...在句义中说，当时JC就以XXX命名了他们，是站在现在的角度叙说当时发生的事，当然是一般现在时。

要看语义~

也对，能否理解为这里并不是严格限定到底是用过去式还是现在时，看题目怎么说，并且在这种情况下，题目一定应该还有别的错误点能够区分的对吗

这里的解析很不到位！真正的问题是：they are named for the New Mexico site where they were fi rst discovered in 1932在这里本来应该是主句，是重心位置，而在C选项中把这个主句降格为状语作为了修饰，而把状语从句升级为主句，完全破坏了结构，混淆了句意。
