好吧，老年人木有坚持写作文，这是可耻的。
儿童节来卖萌，更是可耻。
但是，JJ的作文是一定要准备的啦！

老年人也要写作文啊……
一战检验了下，Toefl 作文25的水平。期望下次能进步到28，哦耶。

老年人发现G&T的准备过程中，最懒得准备的就是作文，每次都是临考前写两篇就硬头皮上场了，什么词汇啊，拼写啊，闪光句型啊，完全木有。现在就来颠覆坏习惯吧。每天写一篇，写到6月9号，开贴逼自己一把。

恳求紧密围绕在鸟儿斑斑周围的小分队的小队友们毫不留情不顾大龄狠狠批。

5月9日11.8.5 NA Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is better for your friend to ask you for help (suppose you are good at the subject) than to turn to a tutor when he finds it hard to pass an examination.

Nowadays, campus life is much more colorful than before. Students are facing diverse selective courses and countless activities which result in less time spent on each course and even more absenteeism. Therefore, sometimes they may have problems to get well scores in the examinations. When a course confronts a friend of mine with difficulties to pass the examination, he may ask me for help as I am good at the subject. But I would strongly propose he should turn to a tutor because a tutor is more helpful than a friend under this circumstance.

For one thing, tutors are more qualified for instruction. Tutors have remarkably deeper understanding of the subject than students like me who just start the course as my friend does. A tutor must pass some tests to get the qualification as a permission to teach. Therefore, a tutor not only has to good at this field but also know more than students enrolled in the subject. With more systematic knowledge and deeper understanding of the course, a tutor could give students adequate explanations and directions professionally. For instance, once I was confused with 2 definitions in a Philosophy course just before an examination, I asked my roommate who seemed to have quite good understanding about the subject. He kindly explained the problem to me. Unfortunately, it turned out that we both failed in the examination because his basic understanding of the subject is totally wrong and it also misled me. From this aspect, a tutor is more reliable and can help my friend make more significant strides in the examination.

Also, tutors have more teaching experience. An experienced tutor can quickly find out the weak parts of a student’s study and provide respective solutions to figure out the problems. We may cite the study in the course of Mathematics as an example. A student has difficulties in the word problems. When he asks for his friends’ help, they may kindly tell him how to work out the certain problem with a specific formula. Thus, the student overcomes this problem. Nonetheless, when the subject or the situation in the same problem changes, the student will get stuck again. On the contrary, tutor will firstly ask the students several questions to determine whether the student could not understand the situation described in question or he has no idea about where and how the formula can apply to practical problems. In this way, the student can avoid the useless work in wrong directions and focus on the weak parts of the solving process after the tutor’s clear and overall interpretation of the universal method for this kind of problems. A tutor’s help is quite efficient due to the teaching experience.

In the end, with helpful skills to arouse interests and to encourage further improvement, a tutor can bring in more self-motivation to learn more about a subject. As we all know, the final purpose of study in universities is not just the score written on the transcript but to improve the capability and the independence of students. Even though seeking help from friends is convenient and time-saving, it also makes people become lazy and dependent. Thus, a tutor is helpful to encourage students to study on their own initiative.

To sum up, though personally I would give some useful recommendations to my friend for the preparation of the examination, I believe it is always a better choice to turn to a tutor to give him definitely correct and scientific instruction.

结构很清晰，例子也非常合适。说说问题吧：

- 字数不用这么多，30分钟很难写出来这么多东西。ETS看重的是语言逻辑。个人认为你的表达很多地方都可以简略写的。

- 句式有点平淡，太多and。如果两个之间有先后顺序，你可以用sequently之类的开头写后面一句。如果有小小的递进关系，你也可以用句式把这个关系扩大。其实有的时候写作文思想感情也要夸张一点。所以多用些倒装句，祈使句，反问句，排比句。

- 词汇方面也少了些亮点。平时看英语是准备一个小本子记下来一些地道的动词，形容词，副词和短语，在作文中用到会很有亮点的。可以看看鸟儿的作文，表达很好。我最后作文机经没时间写都是拿她的当范文来看的~

不好意思没时间帮你改写一下，以后有空多沟通吧。写完了也可以自己改写句子。没有时间的压力可以好好斟酌一下的。

Nowadays, an ever-increasing number of enterprise managers recognize that employees, a special resource compared to other traditional resources such as capital and lands, can have remarkable effect on the performance of their companies. But at the same time, some people go to the other extreme arguing that for large enterprises largest investment should be spent on the improvement of the efficiency and proficiency of the staff because it is the most worth doing. From my point of view, this statement cannot bear further examination

Above all, the main reason is that the investment decision should be on the basis of the strategy of the company. As we all know, the strategy varies not only from industry to industry and from company to company, but also in the different development steps of the same industry or enterprise. The most interesting example can be found in the textile factories. In the early textile industry, the production process mainly depended on the handwork of workers which means the efficiency and proficiency of the workers were equal to the quality and quantity of the outcome. Under this circumstance, there is no doubt on the observably importance of the investment spent on the training to improve employees’ productivity. But when the textilemachineries were developed and brought into the textile industry a couple of decades ago, the strategies of all companies in the industry were subverted. Large instruments took the place of a tremendous amount of workers. The most important investment now is the purchase and maintenance of the equipments.

Also, the training of employees’ current work is not the only aspect of human resource management (HRM). In the past several decades, HRM gradually becomes a significant part of the general management of a company especially the large ones. HRM helps to achieve organizational objective by diverse methods including the training of efficiency and also others such as Employee orientation, career planning and work shift which may be equal or even more important because these methods strengthen the sense of belonging to the company and decrease the loss rate of excellent key employees.

To sum up, as the topic statement obviously make the rash decision regardless of the strategy, oversimplify the content of human resource management as well as ignore the complexity of employees, I disagree with it. Personally, I suggest that it would be better to make any investment decision after taking into account every specific and circumstance of the company.

谢谢包子修改，但有点照顾老年人心态啊，其实批斗得可以惨无人道惨绝人寰一点。
这个主题的逻辑其实蛮奇怪的，因为根本没法定义这个抽象的形容词most important, 到底是最多？最不可缺还是最rewardable? 咦，突然发现这也是可以驳斥的三个角度唉……
但我是学HR专业的，关于人力投资能思考得比较清楚是木有可借鉴意义的。

5月11日11.11.19 NA Some jobs pay a high salary but require employees to leave their families. Some jobs pay less but close to families. Which job would you prefer? Why?

Recently, a friend of mine is irresolute in front of a hard decision. He just got a pretty good job offer from a large famous enterprise. This job chance is well paid and also it is a significant promotion in his career. Everything sounds good, so it seems that there is no doubt that he will accept the new job. Why does he hesitate indeed? The reason is that this job locates abroad but he does not want to separate from his families and friends, especially his new born son. When salary compares with company with family, people always hesitate due to the neck and neck importance of both choices. Different people have different preferences based on their own condition. From my point of view, if I were doing his same decision, I would stay for little baby. But in general, it depends.

For one thing, I insist that family’s need comes before everything. People with opposite view of mine maybe challenge me by showing the significant large amount of businessmen who work far from home pursuing higher salaries or profit. In essence, I did not deny or ignore this prevail phenomenon. And even surprisingly, I am also a guy who lives far away from my parents and I do have some reasonable reasons just same as the most “drift on water” guys do, such as higher salary, more work chances, better live environment and so on. But in my opinion, there are only one thing which is of the greatest importance and should be taken under consider when I am making the “going far away” decision: my families’ need. For example, under the circumstances when my families in sick need my care, when my little baby need love and day by day company from his/her mother just as described in the above my friend’s status or when I am just married, it is better to stay with the most important people. On the contrary, if folks’ need in the first place is money to pay for tuition or hospitalizationcosts, I will go to wherever earn more.

Furthermore, the company of family outweighs anything. Though higher salary can give better education environment for my children and higher living standard for families, I feel from my deep heart that the loss of company to spouse, children and parents does not enable to be made up only by the material conditions improvement. As in the example of parents and children, there is nobody who leaved his children in order to earn more and would not regret the irresponsible decision when he realizes company is the most valuable thing for both parents and children. Also, Long distance or separation is the main cause of breaking up and divorces. Thus, when we could choose to stay with family, it’s always the better choice.

In sum, personally I prefer to stay with my family no matter the salary, but all my decision is on the basis of family’s need so when the money is a key element of the welfare of my family, I would go for high salary with no doubt.

5月12日10.2.13 NA Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? People who cannot accept criticism will not succeed working in teams.

At present, team work prevails in enterprises, especially used in international or complex programmes. Team work has incomparable merits such as flat-organization, high efficiency and remarkable flexibility. When considering of which kind of people fit the role playing in a team, there comes up a question: If a person who cannot tolerate criticism, would he work well in a team? As far as I am concerned, the answer to it is quite obvious: No!

For one thing, the main reason is: No criticism, no progress. Not one of us is birth to perfect. Only through people around you judging you, we get better. For example, when we are working in a team, every team member is trying his best to contribute to the final objective of the team. Team members would discuss to find out the best final scheme by rigorously judging different or even opposite views of each other. And this judging process is quite helpful for us to correct the mistakes and perfect original plan. People who reject to accept new ideas would lose this valuable chance to make great strides.

Another reason can be concluded as “No cooperation, no outcome”. People can be successful by their own hard work. But in team work, cooperation is of significant and necessary importance. Furthermore, all we all know, everyone has his advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, we should be unassertive and respect the criticism from others especially the ones who have long experience and unique views. Otherwise, people will drift apart and do not communicate with us anymore. In this case, people who cannot tolerate opposite opinions are arrogant and not easy-going. Without close cooperation, it is hard to achieve both organization goal and our personal objectives.

In sum, as I reasoned above, criticisms perfect us, and accepting criticism kindly reinforces cooperation, in turn, contributing to team outcome. Toleration of criticism is one of the most required features of a qualified team player. Therefore, I do agree with the topic statement.

1.Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is often not a good thing to move to a new city or a new country because of the lost of old friends.Some people are afraid of losing old friends due to the inevitable departure and long geographical distance. As far as I am concerned, there is no direct connection between the separation from old friends and the lost of them. Besides, the adventure to a new city or a new country could bring in new good friends making life more interesting.

The main season is that moving to a new place to live is not equal to losing contact with old friends. Admittedly, we may have less contact with some of our friends gradually after moving away. Indeed, as friendship is often based on understanding and spirit support, it is hard to sustain without hanging outing and shared experience. Nonetheless, friends will not forget each other even though they are not as close as before. Perpetuation is the nature of a real friendship. Our old friendships could be maintained by various methods, such as letters, telecom, internet and other modern advanced communication technologies. The most convincing example that can be cited is myself. I have been lived in several different cities through the past ten years, seeking better education, work opportunity, and living environment. Fortunately, I still be able to keep close contract with my old friends. Yes, to share a meal with friends in a same city is delighted and joyous, while it’s also enjoyable to chat with my dear old friends through telephone and internet. Therefore, moving far away does not mean the lost of old friends as we though especially when we are lucky enough to live in this modern time full of high technology.

Furthermore, it is fantastic to make new friends in the new place. After moving to a new city or country, we meet with numerous new people with remarkably interesting thoughts and life styles. On one hand, this experience of diversity can broaden our horizons and make us more open to new things. On the other hand, we might well find some like-minded people. This may be a well explanation why some high school seniors prefer to enter an university extremely reputed in one certain field that they are interested in regardless of its far way location from their hometowns.

To sum up, I disagree with the statement that moving to a new city or a new country is not good as they may lost old friends, because we can not only keep in touch with old friends to share minds and ideas, but also make new excellent friends with whom we’d like to rub shoulders to share a new life course.

10. Compared with people who live in urban areas, the people who live in rural areas can take better care of their families.
Whether living in cities or in countryside is kind of a personal choice based on one’s own preference. It is hard to say which one is better for their respective advantages. But talking about which choice could give better care to one’s family, I do suggest to live in a city.

For one thing, communal facilities in cities are well constructed, such as wonderful schools, reputed universities, well equipped hospitals, all kinds of restaurants, convenient public transits, world-class museums, theatres and various entertainment places. These all help people take better care of their families. Take the education for example. When I asked some of my friends why they chose to live in Beijing rather than back to their hometowns, the commonest one of their reasons would be the education of their children. With the maldistribution of the limited educational resources in China, most of the best teachers, professors, rich libraries, scientific and natural museums are within touch in big cities, not in rural areas. Therefore, in front of the keen competition for limited seats in famous universities, parents would like to live in cities to provide their children with the best education.

Furthermore, with better work chance and higher salary, urban citizens can support family better. In most cases, the bigger a city is, the more work chances with decent salaries there will be. As the old Chinese saying goes, “Money cannot do anything, but without money, nothing could be done.” Admittedly, in daily life, people need money for food, rent, children’s tuition, families’ medical cost and wives’ dresses and diamonds. As money plays such an indispensable role in the quality of life, one cannot provide for his family without a considerable income.

People holding the opposite opinion may argue that the natural environment of rural areas such as clear water, fresh air and comfortable natural views would be beneficial to family’s health, and the pollution in cities is getting worse and worse. As I have mentioned above, each choice has its own merits. But when it comes to how to take care of families better, the advantages of urban areas far outweigh those of rural areas.

To sum up, as the reasons I listed above, I disagree with the topic statement that rural people could take better care of their families. Public facilities and high revenues in cities could lead families to better lives.

1.Rather than help their children do school work, parents should encourage their children do work independently. Do you agree or disagree?
With the improvement of education in the past several decades, parents’ educational level has been significantly promoted. Meanwhile, parents are now paying increasing attention on the education of their children. As a result, a large amount of parents are helping children do their home work at present. It indeed helps children to some extent without teachers or tutors to answer questions at home. However, as for me, I believe that parents should encourage their children to do school work by themselves.

For one thing, doing home work independently can build up independence. If each time children turn to their patents for help when they encounter with troubles, they would become lazy, not willing to work hard to figure out tough problems by themselves. For instance, my sister Amy has a son called Jack who just entered high school last year. His score of the last midterm examination turned out to be second if counted backwards. His parents are quite confused because they have spent a large amount of time to help Jack do home work after school and nearly explained every single problem for him. How could he be still not good at study? The answer is obvious that Jack has never fully understood the knowledge on text books by himself. As we all know, one would by no means gain valuable capability of solving problem independently without an initiative thinking process. In this sense, the help from parents will do no good to their children.

Furthermore, kids may misunderstand the purpose of school assignments if they always comply with their parents’ instructions. They will do home work merely for the purpose of finishing assignments but not reviewing what they have learned in class and examining learning outcomes. If a kid does not realize the final purposes of school assignments, he/she may have an inappropriate attitude towards school education without any interest or self-motivation in learning more knowledge.

However, we cannot deny that parents’ help could play an important role in arousing kids’ learning interest. For example, parents could provide various chances in daily life in which children can apply the knowledge learned from school to practice, making children interested in a further research on a certain subject. Besides, parents could help kids study more effectively. Help from parents about properly distributing time between study and play and methods of acquiring knowledge can significantly improve children’s efficiency to some extent. Nevertheless, the advantages of parents’ help cannot outweigh the advantages of leaving the children to solve problems by themselves.

To sum up, despite the fact that parents’ help bears some meaning to their kids to some extent, children can get more benefit from independently solving problems with the encouragement of their parents. Therefore, I strongly agree with the topic statement.

1.Do you agree or disagree with the following statement？Although science and technology will continue to improve, the most significant improvement for the quality of people’s lives have already taken place.
The development of science and technology in the past century has dramatically changed the way people live. Many inventions have been considered of significant importance for all the human beings. Some contend that the most important improvement in humans’ quality of lives have taken place. Personally, I cannot agree with this statement as it is little haste.

First, it is difficult to predict exactly how science and technology progress will impact our life in the future. We can cite the steam engine as an example. Artisans before 17 century had no idea that the invention and application of steam engines were going to replace their hand work because James Watt successfully further developed steam engines, providing a rotary motion which could drive factory machineries effectively. With this promotion, the location of factories had no need to be limited nearby rivers any more, accelerating the pace of the industrial revolution which brought the world into a new era. When people at that time considered the steam engines as the most striking invention ever without any doubt, the invention of computer which would bring the whole world to an information era was right on its way.

Similarly, People one hundred years ago never imagined that computer, telephone and airplane which are all considered as three most important inventions in 20th century will historically change the society and the culture in the last one hundred years.

Therefore, though it is hard to exactly foresee the future in this ever-changing world, one thing I am quite sure of(about) is that science and technology will constantly improve the quality of life in a way that has no precedent. To conclude, there must be more significant improvements in the future.

Secondly, in the existing fields such as medical science and telecommunication, more significant improvement are about to come true. New breakthroughs in medical science will allow humans to finally eradicate (get rid of) diseases that have claimed hundreds of thousands of lives every year in the past decades. Although health and sanitary conditions of humans have improved considerably thanks to modern medical technologies such as immunization vaccine and organ transplant, a few diseases are still considered fatal at the present, including AIDS and cancer. However, researches of genetics and stem cells have already made striking progress and will enable us to prevent the contraction of such diseases and successfully cure them if occur in the foreseeable future.

Telecommunication is the second area where further improvement of people’s life is most likely to be seen. Today, when we are already enjoying fast and instant communication with people across the globe, new advances in the telecommunication and information processing are still offering new possibilities of improving the speed and quality, as well as reducing the cost. One newspaper report I just read said that mobile phone networks in China will be able to provide internet speeds up to 16 times faster than current technologies after the introduction of 4G network, and that’s only about one or two years from now.

To sum up, as the above two reasons, I disagree with the topic statement, holding the good intentions that more significant improvement of science and technology in the future could bring us or our offspring a much more amazing world.

It is more important to choose friends more that have fun with than to choose friend that will help you when you need them.
Everyone has some close friends of quite different features such as humor, optimism, helpfulness, intelligence, trustiness. We would like to spend time with interesting friends for fun, share ideas with like-minded ones and help each other when in trouble as family. When it comes to the question of which kind of the friends, funny ones or helpful ones, is more important, people have personal choice based on one’s own situation and respective experience. As for me, helpful friends are of more importance in my life.

Admittedly, a joyous relationship is the basic of every friendship. When we chat with friends of same ideas or common hobby, the fun from the friendship can release (the) pressure we got from work and life and make us happy and enjoyable. It is natural that no one likes to stay with a guy who always feels boring. In the situation that you just need some fun or kill time, a friend you can have fun with is a pretty good choice. However, such kind of friendship only based on simple fun is not genuine.

As our life will not always be smooth, when we are in trouble, a helpful friend can give us a hand. A friend just for fun will disappear from your world immediately. The relationship merely bases on fun is feeble. I have heard of a joke that borrowing money from friends is the moment one gets to know how few his real friends are. Therefore, one who would try his best to help when I am in trouble is my real friend. Only this kind

Additionally, even though we are not in trouble, we are facing many choices in our life. A considerate and experienced friend could be quite helpful to give us some advices. For example, when I was seeking a job after graduation, a friend of mine gave me a lot of precious advices on the preparation of the interviews and decision making between two offers. Besides, he encouraged me often when I was not self-confident and worrying about not getting a good job. Without his help, I could not even find a job! Therefore, friends’ help is of significant importance in our life.

In the end, we share opinions and learn from each other because of the human natures: people need company; people have a strong will to feel supported. A friend with just fun can meet the first demand but fail to meet the later one while a helpful friend is a perfect choice for the both.

To sum up, as have been discussed above, though funny friend is necessary in our life, the friends who can help you when you need is more important. Therefore, I disagree with the topic statement.

ractice Book》，听说是美国人锻炼写作的工具书。一是为了准备即将到来的第二次GMAT，和潜在的第三次TOEFL，以方便为申请写Essay打基础。
目前坛子里还没有这本书的推荐和资源。所以准备边看边把笔记和习作发上来。希望自己不是说说而已。去作业去鸟……
