标题: 请问one of+复数名词和the only one of +复数名词的谓语单复数问题~~
今天模考里面有一道题是 ***is but one of a great number of communities that are...........
楼主一直都弄不清楚one of+复数时谓语该用什么

是不是one of +pl. 就用复数
但是the only one of+pl.因为修饰的the only one就又用单数呢？
请教各位大牛啊

这是个定语从句的主语，所以单复数跟中心词communities，你中了他们的陷阱了。
这个和one of+复数名词和the only one of +复数名词的谓语单复数问题没关系。

但是如果定语从句理解为是修饰the only one的话，不就该用单数吗？

不能理解为，因为这里用了定语从句的提示词that了，所以说明是定语从句，如果没有that，直接跟谓语的话，遵循上面one of+复数名词和the only one of +复数名词的谓语单复数的规则。

a way OF DODGING OPPONENTS和one of DODGING OPPONENTS不同，前面的a way和DODGING OPPONENTS一起构成一个整体，是一种躲避敌人方法，当然不能分开。

五大湖的那道题是在哪一套题目里的？
它后面从句说的都是五大湖附近的社区的一些共性，是修饰communities on the Great Lakes的，所以要用复数啊。

要具体看句子的含义才能决定是用单数还是复数。

我读不懂这个句子开头部分。

因为开发7.5英亩海岸的计划，Cleveland成了，位于五大湖，依靠水源提升城市生活质量，依靠水源吸引投资的众多Communities中的一个。

这就话的意思是：五大湖有很多communities 依靠水源做......, 而cleveland 依靠它的海岸开发计划成为了这样一个community.

with 开头表示因果。
